Human Impact on Water The health and quality of the water and aquatic ecosystems in and around the Tox Town Port continue to deteriorate year after year; the high traffic of cruise ships in the port, the excessive industrial and urban runoff and the contamination from septic systems continue to alter the chemical balances of the water. Algal Blooms caused by human activity, along with the mismanagement of fisheries also alters the coastal environments and introduces more pollution into the Tox Town Port. The state of the port further depicts that while natural events can pollute and alter water bodies, the actions of humans are in fact more detrimental to the health of aquatic environments.

Water Pollution Sources Cruise ships in the Tox Town Port represent one of the main sources of water pollution: The ships continue to increase in size and carrying capacity, which only increases the amount of sewage, wastewater, and garbage created by not only the ship but the passengers aboard the ship as well. Virtually all the waste created aboard the ship will be discharged into the port, not only polluting the port water, but also contaminating the fish and other marine life populations (Tox Town, 2015).
