Our book describes this somewhat on page 128; “they did monotonous stoop labor, often under adverse climate conditions. Given the seasonal nature of the jobs, they were forced to travel vast distances and to endure frequent periods of unemployment. ”(Gonzales, p. 128). The working hours were extensive and pay was mediocre at best. For those who immigrated to America in hopes of making enough money for themselves and their families to live more adequately, this was a dream gone with the wind.
Eventually, everyone had to deal with the weight placed on his shoulders. Some characters managed this weight better than others, such as Tim O’Brien writing war stories. Many characters who did make it out struggled to find their place back in society once they returned home. Some even ended up taking their own lives from the overwhelming load they bore. The pressure they received was insurmountable.
Many nationalities came to America in hopes of a better life for them and their families. However, it was not easy time for them after arriving in America. Each nationality encountered obstacles, some more difficult than others, but in the end they each persevered. One nationality that experienced a considerable amount of difficulties were the Native Americans. There may have been over 2 million Indian people living in what is now the United States (Olson & Beal p.18).
Even though I have not received the same treatment that Kamel had, but I always have a hard time to say or listen my name. Every time people have to call my name, most of them usually waited a moment when I see them. Also, almost nobody can pronounce my name
Many people have heard of human trafficking, yet many people just turn a blind eye to the issue. In a sense that if it is out of sight it is out of mind. Which is why we need a response team for the individuals who are able to move past these experiences and make it out on top. They need help as well as support. The problem is many of the victims of sex trafficking are stuck and do not know how to get out.
Illegal immigrants frequently suffer from low pay fear of being reported to immigration authorities if they were to complain. Many believe that having immigrant here in the U.S is a huge cost issue for everyone else who pay taxes. The social atmosphere provided important resources for everybody, not just client 's, wide range of groups’ institutions can offer support, including family, friends, work, church, sporting groups, local businesses. As a child I would always see my parents work hard for every dollar they made. When I reached my teenage years I realized that it was because they were immigrants to this country and took whatever job opportunity they could find. I also came to realize that I was an immigrant, and that life was tougher for not having the proper documentation. This year I fell into the biggest hole of my life. I learned that I was not going to get financial aid because of my legal status and my mother was also diagnosed with a tumer last month.
Migrants undergo the pressure of learning a new way of life and become familiar with the language and laws within the United States. Language barriers are fundamental obstacles for immigrants. They hinder migrants from making vital connections within their communities and even to get around on a daily basis (Garrett, 2006). Daily tasks such as taking a bus or grocery shopping can be overwhelming as they may have to communicate with other people in terms of being aware of their surroundings through conversations, reading signs or even to make purchases. Immigrants reported facing language barriers when they go to the public library, saw a doctor, at their children’s school, and when lost and seeking directions (Garrett, 2006).
Often many foreign countries enact immigration laws to promote localized hiring, and these laws make it more difficult for a business to have non-local employees managing and working in the foreign countries. The documentation, such as visas and other immigration related requirements that requested to make it legal for a foreign employee to work in some countries is expensive and time consuming that businesses vacate their geocentric approach. In addition, there are relocation costs involved in transferring employees from country to country, and the organization may need a compensation structure with a standardized international base pay level higher than national levels in many
