In Australia, refugees and asylum seekers are treated like the enemy in a war: the target of a highly resourced, military-led “deterrence” strategy complete with arbitrary detainment, detention camps, guards to terrorise them, forced deportations and the violent suppression of those who protest. Australia is failing to meet the standards required when regarding the treatment of asylum seekers. It is fact that asylum seekers make up less than 3% of Australia’s annual immigration yet the idea is being distorted to that of which they will overpopulate a country that prides itself on being a multicultural society. I want to shed light on the misconception that asylum seekers are not ‘legal’ when in actual fact it is a human right to seek freedom.

Erik Alvarez Professor Bogusky December 02, 2015 INTRODUCTION Hello everyone, one of my earliest memories that I have from school is from my first day of kindergarten. I remember walking into my ESL, english as a second language class, & instantly being questioned as to why I was in there. My fellow classmates assumed I was asian because of how I looked and teased me to the point of tears. In reality, I am of Guatemalan origin.
I remember as a child being told these absurd stories that had been passed on from generation to generation, Myths if you will. Where there were so realistic and full of detail that I too began to start thinking it could possibly be true, but I didn’t want to put that illusion in my head that it was all true. So I associated them as being nothing more than a fantasy. Now the thing with some of these stories are they can be pretty intense to the point of being traumatized.
How would you feel if you and your family were denied the opportunity to a better life or had to wait years for one? The immigrants goal is to strive for a better future for themselves and their family. Coming here will help them achieve that goal. You may be thinking why cant they have a good future where they live? In some cases, the country they live in could be poor, not have many schools, is not safe, etc.
“We always hear about the rights of democracy, but the major responsibility of it is participation.” (Marsalis). Politics influences almost everything we do in our lives and how we do it. Therefore, political participation in the American government, a democracy, is the best way to be the change you want to see in your community and in your country. One small yet important and effective way to do this is by contacting your government and voicing your opinions, and when I wanted to raise the issue of immigration reform for the DACA recipients, I researched the issue, wrote a letter, and sent it.

For decades, immigration has been a problem for the United States. Due to the people traveling from their native lands to the United States seeking a better life for themselves, and more primarily for the family that has come with them. Immigration is the action of settling into a country of which one is not native. Despite the many legal immigrants not every immigrant enters the country with legal documents and most of these illegal immigrants are poor and uneducated. Some undocumented immigrants commit crimes such as drug smuggling, or terrorism.
Immigration has always been a major part of American history. Each year, hundreds of thousands of people travel to the United States in search of a better life. Of the 1.49 million immigrants who traveled to the United States in 2016, 150,400 immigrants were from Mexico. There have also been many people from Mexico who have immigrated illegally to America, with 5.6 million Mexican unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S. in 2015 and 2016. The large scale of immigration, both legal and illegal, has brought up issues such as national security and the U.S. economy.
Dear fellow nasty women and bad hombres, America is one the greatest experiments in freedom and liberty history has ever known. We are a nation that was built on the minds and ideals of immigrants. Our Founding Fathers created America so that everyone could have a chance at "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Those are aspects of my country, I would never change because they are what make us unique. The glow of America casts a ripple of hope upon those who struggle.
I.Introduction One of the greatest controversies in modern day is illegal immigrants. There are an approximate 11.4 undocumented immigrants that live in our country today. Now with your new action in place, I think it’s a good thing. Mainly because it allows lasting illegal immigrants to stay here, it allows jobs to go to documented americans, and gives children hope for a better future ahead. II.

Stevenson uses Enfield’s narration to first introduce the reader to Hyde whom we don’t know the identity of yet. He describes the scene as “hellish to see” then he elaborates the horror by describing what Hyde did and in what manner he did so: “trampled calmly over the child 's body” furthermore Stevenson uses a metaphor to describe Hyde as a “Juggernaut” this indicates that Hyde is an unstoppable force that crushes everything in his way and also has no reluctance in trampling over the girl and this gives the reader a sense of horror and curiosity of what kind of man could do such a thing without a second thought. Then, Enfield goes on to say that when this figure was caught he said “No gentleman wishes to avoid a scene, name your figure” and
Social Isolation and Loneliness Social isolation has become much more common in a society that constantly tries to stereotype us. The poems, “A Supermarket in California,” by Allen Ginsberg and “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,” by T.S. Eliot, display the way that loneliness is affecting people. In “A Supermarket in California” imagery is used heavily, while with “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock,” relies on personification to show the loneliness of isolation. Both poems use objects such as the lonely streets and night time to make the reader feel the isolation.
