Introduction Politics is a commonly-used word in the twenty-first century and appears to be involving so naturally in our life. But where and how exactly does politics influence our lives? It is somehow a surprisingly tricky problem since we find it hard to set the boundary of ‘political’ and ‘non-political’ life. To answer this question, first of all, we have to think about what is politics. As is defined by Heywood in Political Theory: An Introduction, politics ‘is a social activity; it arises out of interaction between or among people, and did not, for example, occur on Robinson Crusoe’s island – though it certainly did once Man Friday appeared.’ It is an extreme example which shows that there are some political events going on even between …show more content…
But just as Adrian Leftwich argued in What is Politics?, politics ‘is at the heart of all collective social activity, formal and informal, public and private, in all human groups, institutions and societies’ , politics not only takes place when we join the institution of the state and really ‘get in’ the pool, but also exists at every level and in every sphere of human societies. Organizational politics, or more generally being called as workplace politics, is one of the typical forms of politics that happened between individuals on a daily basis and can be found commonly in modern society. Organizational politics is usually defined as influence tactics used by organization members to improve personal or organizational interests. Place a modern business institution as an example, promotion actions, reorganization decisions, and the development, flow, and use of information needed by organizational members all involve power use ,which means using tactics and social networking appropriately also help an individual to gain power, therefore achieve success in his career. When someone is unconsciously paying more attention to the use of words when talking in the office, trying hard to maintain a good relationship with his colleagues and doing everything he can to earn a promotion, he have already …show more content…
We know what's going on, we should take matters into our own hands." Although the movement is still an immature political movement which contained radical actions such as violently occupied the Legislature Building, undeniably, it is an example of how Taiwanese youths voluntarily participate in politics. There is also a general idea considering that the existence of channels for public participation in the political process is likely to increase the propensity for citizens to comply voluntarily with governmental rules and orders. Despite whether or not their ideas are wise, they are just simply trying their best to care for the country. Chinese students, on the other hand, somehow may be encountering politics in a much earlier year than Taiwanese students did. At the age of six, almost all children pledge to join the Young Pioneer of China, a mass youth organization for children managed by the Chinese Communist
Gail Collins continuously writes about politics and how the world, especially the United States, is affected by this and how it is currently functioning. Collins speaks consistently about president Donald Trump’s political career and the actions that he has taken throughout his years as a politician. I confirm Gail Collins’ stance in the opinions she has put forth throughout her career as a New York Times columnist. Over the past few weeks, I have been engaged in Gail Collins’ work as she has taught me about politics and what is happening in our world currently.

The overarching theme explored within this essay is the tendency of working-class conservatism within society. This has been analyzed above in regards to class-consciousness and hegemony. The popular Marxist explanation of working class Toryism sees a manifestation of false-consciousness on part of a large majority of the working class- a condition which is felt to be redeemable under the right conditions of proletariat education. In addition to this, some scholars have suggested that hegemonic pressures play a role in influencing the class consciousness of certain sects of persons within society. Political allegiances are to a large extent, a reflection of the vales persons within a society subscribe to in areas of their life outside the realm of politics.

The issue of the relationship between Taiwan and China often times leads to heated discussions and violent fights between people from two places.
The article When Does Power Disparity Help or Hurt Group Performance?, published in 2015 by the Journal of Applied Psychology, discusses how power disparities and social hierarchies impact a group of individuals and whether they help or hamper group performance. Furthermore, the goal of this research is to examine and dissect the relationship between the power holder and those he or she asserts his or her power over. The researchers have one main hypothesis that they intend to test throughout the article: the power holder’s competence and leadership dictate how power disparity and group performance mesh with one another. To be more specific, the more competent a power holder proves to be, the more the power disparity incentivizes groups to work effectively and efficiently.
Undoubtedly politics is “the study of influence and the influential”, there is most certainly truth in Harold D.Lasswell’s definition of politics. Throughout the course of this essay the study of politics will be examined in relation to Laswell’s definition. Furthermore the concept of government and how people influence government action will be looked at. In Lasswell’s book “Politics, Who Gets What, When and How” he clearly outlines the “influential are those who get the most of what there is to get”, in his opinion politics was primarily to do with power and influence. Lasswell’s definition of politics has been in the past supported by prominent political scientists such as Abraham Kaplan and Robert A. Dahl, both men believe the study of politics is largely to do with the use of influence by those who find themselves in influential positions.
Individuals may not apply impression management, but they should know the cons for not delivering what the organization wants and needs (Slideshare.net, 2015). Individuals can create better supervisor impressions when they use these tactics, given that they have high in political skills. On the other hand, individuals who have low political skills and engage in high levels of impressions management are likely to be viewed as less favourably, avoid using impression management tactics will be a better option (Crant, 1996). Impression management is neither good or bad, it is an integral part of our social interaction and everyone gets involved in it every day (Slideshare.net, 2015). Therefore, politicians who do well in impression management can get immediate political advantage compared to the others.

In James Scott’s writings about “Everyday Forms of Resistance”, he makes many points about power and where it may lie, even if the points are unintentional they provide a solid argument with great examples to back up those arguments. Scott argues that a vast realm of political action is overlooked for two reasons. The first reason is that it is not openly declared in the usually understood sense of “politics”. Second, the group action displayed is not how we normally understand collective action. From these two reasons, Scott suggested that arguments could be developed, stating that “much of the politics of subordinate groups fall into the category of “everyday forms of resistance”, these activities should most definitely be considered political.””
