Almost 30 children were rescued off an island after their plane crashed about a month before on their return to England. They were returning on an airplane from a temporary boarding school that was designed like hundreds of others to avoid from involving children in this war. Ironically, this pack of children met their own misfortune. The boys were discovered very tattered and beat up, almost unrecognizable from their previous selves. Sadly, 2 boys perished on the island during this month, Simon Shayman and David Porkington.
Massa Tom Lea represents all the beliefs and values of the Rational Era because he finds truth through reason, importance through his individual self, and he believed that the idea of Patriotism grows over time. Massa Tom Lea is obviously the Devil in disguise. A rapist slave-owner who didn 't care about anyone but himself. I guess thats all that was around back in the day with most white slave-owners. He valued importance in his individual self and whoever worked for him got nothing but bad treatments.
Even though Achebe sets Okonkwo to his downfall, it is evident that Okonkwo is a great hero despite his rash behavior and temper. Generally, a tragic hero is born into royalty and has already attained the noble status. However, Okonkwo was born into a poor family, and according to Okonkwo his father was “weak and feminine”. Regardless his father’s failures Okonkwo acquires respect in the Igbo society by defeating a great wrestler: As a young man of eighteen he had brought honor to his village by throwing Amalinze the Cat. (1) Okonkwo furthermore spends his hours toiling away in an attempt to earn his way up in the patriarchal society.

Nicholas Lopez had always been very smart, hardworking, and able to handle anything that comes at him. Demonstrated by living through semi-poverty, fighting a war, then trying to live a normal life with the burdens that fighting a war creates with that. But once he had a second kid, he moved to Oregon to live out the rest of his life there, which also wraps up how my family ended up in Oregon. So, along with everything else that he was going through and had gone through already, he was raising children along with it, which is a challenge for most people
Martin Luther King, Jr once had said,” I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great of a burden to bear.” You can say that MLK is one of the best known advocates to use unconditional love and nonviolence instead of bloodshed to deal with a conflict, and be successful with the manner. During his days he was one of the most loved and hated men for the things he did for trying to reach equality, yet throughout his time of living it's obvious that he fought for human rights and balance. Even though some people say he caused to many problems, in that day of society, MLK’s work helped us to have what we have today. Which would be equality and balance between the races.

From growing up in a large family, to being at the lead of an empire, Capone was always there to help those who needed him. His enemies however, knew that Capone did not have the desire to serve everyone. Despite humble beginnings, Al Capone was an interesting character that turned into one of the most well known villains with a good side.
Flora was very ill after John’s birth, so she turned the boy over to Virginia Prentiss, an ex-slave, who took care of the boy. Flora married John London, a partially disabled Civil War veteran, later that year. After that they started to call John Jack in order to distinguish his from step-father. As Jack graduated from grammar school, he went to work because his family couldn’t afford to send him to high school. Working at canning factory was tough, he started pirating oysters, and also he worked at the open sea for some time.

Then at the age of 22 Melville set sail aboard a whaling vessel, and after his time as a whaler he enlisted in the navy.

When he makes landfall he is apprehended by citizens because there was a murder the previous night and a man on a small boat, much like Victor’s, was seen leaving the island. In chapter 21, Victor is taken into a court and then shown the body of the murdered man who turns out to be Henry Clerval. Victor’s reaction to seeing Henry is suspicious to the judge because he cries out and collapses. Victor is taken into a prison cell and falls ill for about two months. Shortly after he wakes up, the magistrate, Mr. Kirwin, tells him that his father has come to see him.
