“A leader is the one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way” (John C. Maxwell).
The breakfast club is a famous teen film directed by John Hughes. The Breakfast Club provides many concepts of adolescent struggles like identity issues, peer pressure, stereotypes, family relationships. The storyline follows five high school students from different social status meeting at their school’s library for Saturday detention. The film depicts Claire as the princess, Andrew as the jock, Brian as the brain, Allison as the basket case and Bender as the criminal. However, later in the film, they realize that they are more than what society portrays them and that they have more in common than they thought.
The movie that I had chosen was Disney movie, Mulan. In this movie, Fa Mulan, as the only daughter in her family, she took the place of her father to participate in the war as a man without telling her family. In the barrack she show her ability of leadership and the soldiers had confidence towards her, hence, to follower her ideas. The definition of leadership is the capacity of an organization’s administration to set and accomplish goals, make immediate and conclusive move, perform better than competitors, as well as motivating others to perform better. (Anon., 2010)
The type of leadership style my preceptor has is task-oriented. Spahr defines task-oriented leadership as, “leadership that focuses on completing a job and concentrates on tasks that have to be done, rather than who is doing them” (Spahr, 2015).
Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power. There are many different types of leadership and they all react differently to power. A leadership style like authoritarian usually has the leader forcing others to do certain things, for example most corporate bosses tell you to do your task or you 'll be fired. Giving power to an authoritative leader usually goes wrong, they think they can get away with things and that no one can question them. This leadership style usually leads to giving very few people power, which leads to corruption. Another type of leadership style is a democratic leader.
Leadership plays a vital role in order for an organization to succeed, by effectively managing and controlling employees the type of leadership style. The most universal leadership styles concern transactional, transformational, laissez-faire, democratic and authoritative. These styles are widely applied in different organizations

During Colonial times, there were women who attempted to make changes in colonies, three of them being Phyllis Wheatley, Anne Hutchinson, and Anne Bradstreet. All three women tried to set the example of a quality leader, but according to our class definition of what a leader is, “a leader must represent a group of people, they must not be afraid to take responsibility. They must be decisive and have confidence in their decisions. They provide a role model for the people under them by being trustworthy and having the motivation to make changes for the better. It is also important for a leader to show discipline so that order is kept and the people remain committed. In order to achieve their goals, they must have the courage to maintain their
Management and leadership practices are helpful and useful to individual's prosperity and that of our organization. Leadership and management theories concentrate on what qualities recognize and distinguish between leaders and followers in an organisation. Leadership can be characterized as a procedure by which an individual impacts others to accomplish a target and coordinates the organization in a way that makes it more coherent and cohesive. On the off chance that you have the longing and willpower, you can turn into an effective leader. Great leaders are creating and developing through a ceaseless procedure of self-study, experience, training and education. While leadership is learned, the knowledge and skills have by the
" Leadership is the ability of a superior to influence the behavior of subordinates and persuade them to follow a particular course of action." - Chester Barnard
In the movie we are introduced to Mr. Burry who is a Managing Director at Scion capital who one day comes up with the theory that Americas Housing Market will one day fail because of how many mortgages are being taken out. Burry makes this discovery on his own-with the help of the internet-but doesn’t seem to ‘need’ the help of others. He does ask an opinion from a new worker David but doesn’t seem to keep him too fully involved in the matter. He later on tells Lawrence, his business partner and that’s the only person he seems to confide in and he (Lawrence) gives his opinion on the matter but lets himself make all decisions, and this is an example of an autocratic leader who makes all his/her own decisions.
The Google dictionary defines leader as “the person who leads or commands a group, organization, or country”. As I read this story the quote “a leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way” continues to float around in my head. To me, I think this is a very interesting story. I think the story revolves around being a leader instead of a follower.
Handsome, tenderness, strong, and active those are the ideas that come to mind whenever we hear the word "prince". People think about a prince as a person who is perfect such that he is a real hero that protects his nation from enemies and helps citizens, so it is better to be said that we see an angel in the shape of human being. This is the definition of a prince in the function of stories and fairy tales. Can a prince be that wonderful in real life? The purpose of having a leader is to set performance for nation's benefits, cooperation with people for general advantages, and organize the community. Therefore, my argument is that leaders, like princes, are responsible to lead the community to order or disorder.
Abstract: In this paper, I discuss the film Gladiator and the specific main characters of Maximus, Commodus and Marcus Aurelius. They displayed both good and bad leadership throughout the film. Maximus mostly exemplified the positive theories of leadership, while Marcus Aurelius and Commidus represented the bad forms. Maximus mainly displayed the leadership traits of transformational leadership, LMX theory, referent and legitimate power and Great Man Theory. Marcus Aurelius and Commodus engaged in bad leadership as well as coercive power.
As the reasons behind a lot of the characters’ actions are to acquire their own materialistic desires, the aspects of power and influence are important to recognize in the analysis of the behaviors portrayed in the movie Inception. As the movie progresses and more is revealed about Dom, it is very evident that he is recognized infamously for his skills in the art of extraction, the subconscious of others, and his control and ability to structure dreamscapes within another’s mind. This power that Dom possesses “is the power of knowledge” and the ability to “influence others through their relative expertise” is known as expert power (Leadership: Enhancing the lessons of experience, pg. 57, 2015). This power described
