Eight hundred years ago during the 13th century a small central Asian tribe known as the Mongols conquered much of the known world. Mongols were nomadic people known for being barbaric and harsh when expanding their empire. Even though the Mongols were obviously brutes, their expansion of territory, military tactics, and facilitation of commerce proved they were more helpful than harmful.
Mongols weren’t fully barbaric, they had some rational rules and customs that still impact civilizations today. For example Mongols had a very organized military, they tolerated all religions, and encouraged trade.
During the Tang and Song dynasty, China made many new advance things like math,literature,technology,and science. These advancement gave many European empires to struggle for years. The Mongols were a group of nomadic people that had a far from good reputation. Eight centuries ago the Mongols conquered much of the known world led by Genghis Khan. Their violent and rash actions got them the name ¨Barbarians¨, which was a term referring to people who were beyond reach of humanity, people who were evil or savage. The Mongols committed many barbaric crimes and they are shown through places they passed through, Genghis Khan, and their beliefs.
The Vietnam war is known as the longest war in the U.S. history. It was situated in Vietnam, a country located in the southeast of China, during the cold war. Vietnam was a French colony and like in most colonies, the natives (Vietnamese people) were not treated right; Ho Chi Minh, that later became north Vietnam leader, asked for help to western countries, which was denied. The Soviet Union offered to help Vietnam, however, in order to do so they had to become communists, the country was divided into North Vietnam (communist) and south Vietnam (democratic), eventually North Vietnam wanted to take over South Vietnam. The U.S. got involved in Vietnam to keep communism from spreading, thus the country was divided because not all Americans agreed with the participation in this war, and the division between Americans made the U.S. foreign policies to change.
Visualize you have to figure out how to stop world hunger. You decide to kill a bunch of people who suffer from world hunger every day. In the end world hunger is gone and no longer a problem in the United States. Did the actions you did to reach your goal justify. Ashoka had to ask himself this question too. Ashoka ruled India from 268 BCE until he died in 232 BCE. Ashoka had edicts written on pillars, boulders, and walls. Ashoka became a Buddhist and worked on spreading the beliefs and faith throughout his reign. Ashoka is considered to be either a ruthless warrior or an enlightened ruler. Ashoka was enlightened because he respected all faiths and he cared about all life. Ashoka was an Enlightened Ruler. What do you think?
People had both the right and the duty to make whatever changes were necessary to come up with a new government or new reforms to that government to better serve their needs. This is basically was the mindset of the people who believed that reform was need in society. The Second Great Awakening refers to a period of religious revivals at occurred in the United States in the 1830s. After this period, many reform movements took place to better serve society and the people in it. Many reform movements between 1825 and 1850 sought to expand democratic ideals by advocating many social and political changes including movements to prohibit alcoholic beverages, to increase public education, and to support rights for women.
Upon conquering those in foreign lands, the Mongols treated the people without dignity or respect of any kind. It seemed that they had a disregard for human life with the people were alien to them and discriminated against them whilst in the peoples’ native land. Once conquered the peoples’ lifestyles were ripped from them, even including the elites. The Mongols exploited everyone, even women and children, for their own advantage, often using forced labor. Those who resisted Khan’s reign were often enslaved, imprisoned, or killed. (I think that being killed for resisting was a little too much.) Many people were killed during the era of the Mongols.
At the end of World War II, Western European powers sought political stability after a period of turmoil and devastation. Germany was divided into two spheres of influence: East Germany, controlled by the Soviet Union, and West Germany, controlled by the Allies. Western Europe attempted to unify in the post-war economy, and various views arose regarding this potential unity. The unification of Western Europe was met with opinions that were largely motivated by a nation’s own economic and political interests.
The Mongols who are they and were they barbaric? The mongols was a small clan until they came to one leadership whom being named genghis Khan. He who lead the mongols to a world of conquering and success. The mongols were barbaric empire. They way they kept soldiers fighting is cruel, they way they killed people from other empires is not necessary, and the way they got married depending on the situation is unfair.
Is Asoka a ruthless conqueror or is he a knowledgeable ruler? Asoka is one of the most acknowledged rulers of the Mauryan Empire. He ruled most of India over 2,000 years ago. Although he may be the greatest ruler of the Mauryan Empire, Asoka is still a merciless emperor because he has done many remorseful things that shall not be forgiven such as exterminating thousands of people and he has also conquered many lands to enhance his kingdom.
The acceleration of Imperialism during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that greatly impacted the world, is due to multiple economic, political, and social forces. Imperialism, a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force, was becoming drastically more and more important for European and Asian countries. Ultimately, the advancements during the Industrial Revolution made Imperialism easier, and on a very large scale for many European countries. Although there were many factors that contributed to Imperialism by ways of economic, political, and social forces, some proved to be more significant and influential than others.
Corporate greedy and corrupt politicians were specific problems and injustices that were present in American life during the late 1800s and early 1900s however these were addressed during the progressive era with laws and regulations.
After WWII, there was communism fever in the northern part of the world. This domineering outbreak of communism threatened the US and our capitalist allies. Through the outbreaks, the US took things to drastic measures and did everything in their power to stop communism, causing multiple wars and combat.
In times of fear and hysteria in the U.S. it is mass chaos and it only gets worse and worse. During the time of both the witch-hunt eras, whether for communist or actual witches, they prove to have many similarities between them. Both of these times were full of confusion and lying which lead to the temporary downfall of the authority at that time. Joseph McCarthy proved to be a factor in this time and add on to the chaos that was America. Arthur Miller wrote about these times in a book called The Crucible, based on the witch trial era.
