In the opening of Sotomayor’s speech, she uses a grateful tone towards her friends, family, but more specifically her mother. In the beginning of the speech, Sotomayor is shown to be very humble by thanking her family, friends, and the president for helping her become a nominee to the Supreme Court. Sotomayor is even more grateful to her mother for teaching her the idea of education. Sotomayor states, “I am here, as many of you noticed, because of her aspirations and sacrifices for both my brother and me” (Sotomayor).
One thing I would say that is true is, both of our family members influenced us positively. A lesson taught to her upon numerous occasions was that things are not handed down to her. She has to truly earn it. Her favorite subject, coincidently coincides with mine; while science is her favorite subject, mine, math being essential for it. Teachers always say, “Math is needed in everyday life,” so having the influence of that in the subject is great.
Ashley is my hero for many reasons. She tries her best and gives her all in everything she does. Her ambition inspires me everyday. She’s passionate about school and loves being in school. Ashley’s gleaming smile will light up any room she walks into.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a phenomenal inspiration to women and men everywhere. She is an example of exemplary work ethic, dedication, and determined resolve in everything she does from her academic endeavors, and professional aspirations, to advocating for rights and justice. Ruth was born in 1933 in Brooklyn, New York. She developed a love of learning due to the strong influence of her mother, which aided her in her academic career. Excelling in school, Ruth graduated with honors as well as being granted scholarship opportunities (Sirmans 3).
A hero is someone who puts others before themselves. Heroic acts can range from small gestures to saving countless lives. Heroes are known for their outstanding achievements and being calm in life changing situations. Betty Ong was a hero because she was selfless and courageous and sacrificed herself for others. Betty Ong had a typical American childhood, but she was always hard working and caring for others.
The attributes a hero must have in order to be considered hero include being patient and complaisant, even with the most frustrating people, willing to help anyone, friend or foe, and being humble even though they are constantly praised and awarded for the heroic things they do. The late George Griffith, father and grandfather, best exemplified these qualities and is considered a hero to many. George Griffith is a hero because he was patient and complaisant, even the most frustrating and annoying people. George had four children and ten grandchildren and all throughout his life he has never yelled or has never been angry at them. John Griffith,
Both Ben and King Arthur had great responsibilities, similar callings on their lives, and a comparable set of values. Arthur was great in battle and was very intelligent when it came to combat which resulted in many successful victories. This was a huge accomplishment to King Arthur and this shows that he is very noble and that he does not back down. Ben is very intelligent and didn’t like to give up on his dreams. Ben applied for The University of Michigan School of Medicine and worked many jobs before he was finally accepted, but this shows that he doesn’t back down from his
This made her a progressive hero because of all of the little things she did to make her community a better place. Even after her death the Hull House continued to operate, and since then has been turned into the Jane Addams Hull House Museum run by the University of
She gives me the courage to do things I once feared. She helps me enjoy the things I love. She provides me with all the love and compassion she can give. My mother is my role model. I could not imagine a world without her; someone who teaches me good from evil and wrong from right.
I am of the opinion that my Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) Communication Studies teacher fits the description of an ideal teacher. Miss Communication Studies was a very passionate and dedicated person. I particularly admired her level of expertise in her field and her punctuality. Her brave, strong character was overwhelming, yet she always wore a smile on her face, revealing her pleasant nature. Apart from her scheduled classroom teaching time, she always kept her students' best interest at heart, by conducting lunch time classes and focused on individual-based assistance, exposing her nurturing, diligent and cooperative attributes.
It is with great pleasure that I recommend Katrina Schwartz. She is a hardworking and kind individual who has demonstrated strong ability and talent throughout her high school career. Katrina’s talents extend beyond the classroom. Not one to just sit back and let life pass her by, she is involved both in and outside of school. Although quite modest, Katrina is a student that is well liked and admired by her peers, as well as her teachers.
Some of good qualities my mom has is that she is very generous and is very kind to everyone. My mom is very important in my life because without her i would not be here. She has taught me so much and has always encouraged me to do the things that make me happy. The quote my mom lives by is treat others as they want to be
Not a lot of people have that quality, but he displays it well through his life on and off court. In the world of boxing, Muhammad Ali is seen as the greatest of all time by many. Love or hate him, you have to eventually admire his greatness. He was born with the name Cassius Clay on January 17, 1942.
I admire extraordinary people: individuals who are the pinnacle of excellence in whatever they choose to pursue. Be it a perennial basketball all-star, a platinum-record producing artist, or an author whose name seems to be permanently etched onto bestseller lists – I respect anyone who is a titan of their craft, a groundbreaking trailblazer who redefines whatever they do. Rosalind Franklin was the manifestation of an extraordinary person. A remarkable scientist, Franklin received a PhD from Cambridge University when women maintaining desires beyond becoming housewives were ridiculed. Franklin later became a fellow at King’s College, where her work on X-Ray Diffraction revealed the structure of the most important molecule in science: DNA.
He showed eagerness in listening to her, and took to heart what she taught and said. Its amazing how the right adult supervision can turn a child onto a path of education and correct social skills. It was interesting to read Ruvy 's IEP and then to see the child in action. Ruvy is a wonderful child and has a lot to offer to others, the class and
