I currently work for Compassion Care Hospice. Compassion Care Hospice is a for profit hospice agencyin Las Vegas Nevada. Owners Denny Barnett, Kelly Thompson, and Joe Schwab opened Compassion Care began in April 2005. Compassion Care Hospice is run and operated by the Aria management company. Compassion care is now one of the leading Hospice in the Las Vegas area, with a census at 140.
However, some may argue that true leadership does not necessarily require compassion and wisdom. For example, some may argue that leaders who prioritize strength and decisiveness over empathy and thoughtfulness can be more effective in achieving their goals. Alternatively, others may suggest that leaders who possess other qualities, such as charisma, vision, or strategic thinking, are more successful. White addresses these counterarguments by showing the negative consequences of leadership that is too self-focused. it is clear that White makes a strong case for the importance of these qualities in a leader, as he depicts their absence leading to tragic consequences.
The primary consideration and key responsibility of workers within the Mental Health sector are the clients with whom they engage; their rights to privacy and confidentiality must be respected. Workers must comply with duty of care and act in the best interests of clients, avoid exposing them to physical, psychological or emotional harm or injury, and always uphold the principle of “do no harm”. Professional boundaries must be kept in place to intentionally protect both the client and the worker, who must maintain the integrity of these limits. Workers must recognise that we live on the traditional lands and waters of the Indigenous peoples of Australia. They will be respectful of Indigenous culture, recognising that culture and connection
Compassion does make impacts on other people, everyday for example in history. When Abraham Lincoln stopped slavery. The slaves were freed, they were no longer owned. Second act of compassion helped my family still be whole. My aunt saved my cousin Luke from drowning.
Some of my greatest attributes include searching or imagine the best solution and making it happen, staying focused at the topic at hand, following through with projects or something I have committed to, and giving as much as I possibly can to be the best person I can be for myself and the group. However, one of my greatest weaknesses as a leader is my lack of ability to implement my thoughts into action. I have the tendency to simply "go with the flow" or remain quiet instead of speaking up and having to argue with others about what may be more beneficial. Sympathy is not a valid basis for compromising one’s values. Both kindness and strength are imperative aspects of a successful leadership, and I hope to illustrate each in poise. The ambition to complete tasks and improve all aspects within a system is a significant element of success. The ability to create and implement an idea within a team setting is what defines a leader.
Throughout my life, I have always felt a call to serve others. Whether in an athletic setting, academic classroom, or one of my many other pursuits, I often find myself taking on a leadership role. No matter what setting might be, I call upon certain leadership traits that have helped me be successful thus far in life. As a leader, I set goals that benefit the group in the long run while insuring that each individual reaches their full potential in best serving the group. I do this by making sure each person knows that they can contribute something beneficial to the group and that all of these persons can help in a way that utilizes their own talents.
1. My philosophy of leadership is about collaboration and teamwork. Respecting and treating everyone the same, is key to supporting a good team atmosphere. I believe when a leader puts effort and care into assisting others, then their peers and followers will naturally want to support them. It is also important for a leader to recognize, that advocacy must never become so important that the critical elements of leadership are neglected (e.g. policy enforcement, command support, etc...).
But first, you should have clarity of your own identity and knowledge. Once you have your own foundation with being a leader, I think that as a leader you can transition and understand the behavior of others that may be on your team. When acknowledging others on the team, I think that it is important to identify strengths and weaknesses of others and the team. As you can see, I have outlined what I believe makes a great and effective leader.
According to Daniel Goleman, there are three types of attention essential for a leader; attention on others, attention on oneself and attention on the entire world. Focusing on others and oneself cultivates emotional intelligence while focusing on the entire world improves the leader’s ability to innovate, strategize and manage organizations. An excellent leader should create a balance between these three types of attention. Therefore, directing attention by cultivating awareness is the main role of a leader.
Being an effective leader can be a challenging task when managing numerous employees with many different personalities. Each employee works and thinks differently and a great leader is able to distinguish each trait and enhance those qualities. Moreover, having a caring heart can help enhance each employee’s personal traits and relationships with the leaders. In the reading, the author discusses throughout the chapter skills and techniques in the middle phase of working with a service user. Honesty is a value that is highly respected in the social work profession because it creates authenticity and trust in the therapeutic alliance. I agree with the statement completely, as I believe that being honest in regards to what one is feeling as a social worker allows the service user to be honest with how they are feeling as well. Further, it is explained that empathy is of vast importance when working with a service user in order to connect, help them uncover what they are feeling, and find specific approaches and techniques that would be beneficial to the service user. Although I agree that empathy is an important skill for a social worker to have when working with a service user, I feel that at times it can be an issue.

Self-awareness is a huge part of it is having a clear perception of your personality, including strengths, weaknesses, thoughts, beliefs, motivation, and emotions. Self-Awareness allows you to understand other people, how they perceive you, your attitude and your responses to them in the moment.
