The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars; Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Scholarship is one of the most important pillars to me. Scholarship means not only doing well in school and getting good grades, but applying what I have learned and using it everyday. I know the importance of education and feel that I am a lifelong learner. I feel very fortunate to have been raised in a family where education is a priority.
I was very honored to know that I qualified as a possible candidate for the National Honor Society. To be honest, I never thought of being in the National Honor Society. Therefore, when I got pulled out of class I immediately thought I had done something wrong. I went home that day and told my mom about it. My mom looked me in the eyes and told me that she was very proud of me and gave me a big hug.
Volunteering is a great way to gain experience and become more aware of the world around you while also giving back to others. You learn how to build up character and it can change how you look at the world. For me volunteering is a another step I can take to become aware of people 's situations and not seem like a naive teenager. Plus it would really help me when I do go into the medical field. Volunteering at the hospital relates to my career goal of becoming a nurse.
I should be considered for the NTHS because I am devoted, determined, adaptable and I enjoy serving my community. I fit these seven characteristics because I incorporate all seven of these things in my everyday life. I demonstrate skill by applying my learning skills every day when I come in to school. I demonstrate honesty every day by telling the truth to my teachers and fellow classmates. I demonstrate responsibility every day by completing my homework and getting it turned in on time.
I am honored to be eligible amongst the meritorious students who are being considered for induction within the National Honors Society. Being an active member in this society has been something I have been looking forward to since middle school; having previous family members inducted, I regard it as a goal I must accomplish. I would be honored to be a member of this society which is known for benefitting children, the elderly, and the needy .These limitless opportunities of contributing to my community will help me grow as a person which will undoubtedly help me in my future career as oncologist and leave an impact on my fellow community members. The National Honors Society is a remarkable organization for someone who demonstrates leadership,
United Way of Snohomish. This winter season I have joined to the great, kind, and humble people of United way! I have become a volunteer with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA). So far I am really enjoying the experience of being a volunteer and helping my community. The people of United WAy of Snohomish have received me very well.
In addition to the grade point average of students, an individual should be respectable, intelligent, and mature to gain acceptance into National Honor Society. National Honor Society is a widely renowned group that only the top candidates should be admitted to, not just for academic achievement, but for being a genuinely good person. Not only do I believe that I portray these qualities, but I have much more to offer, therefore, I should be considered for admission. Scholarship can be shown in many ways, and is not only limited by grade point average. To me, scholarship can be defined as someone excelling in school by trying their hardest and making an attempt to educate themselves to the best of their ability.
I have many goals I want to achieve throughout my life. However, the biggest goal I have set for me to accomplish is to become a pediatric nurse. I have been dreaming of this career since I was about eight years old, mainly because of my best friend. She was diagnosed with level four Cerebral Palsy at birth. The first thing that pulled me towards nursing was the way she would cheer up whenever I encouraged her.
As a persistent volunteer, my passion to help others has been a significant trait of mine, I am blessed to have many opportunities to help my community since I have been in elementary. I volunteer at any event I am eligible for throughout my community whenever I have the chance. However, I do not limit myself to participating in community events. I help others in need by purchasing food for them or donating the clothes I don 't wear. Looking back at all the volunteer opportunites I take advantage of, Operation Santa will have a special place in my heart because of the joy the activity brings me.
I believe that being involved in a community is extremely important, that is why I tried to stay involved as much as possible. Although I feel like I could have been involved more than I was, I still believe that I made an impact on my community and helped out where I could. I was told that a little goes a long was and any effort helps, so I am proud of the volunteering I did for my community in that past three years. I come from Reinbeck, a small town in Iowa, where everyone here is very proud of the community we live in. All ages are helping out to make this a safe and fun environment to be apart of.
