The use of technology cannot be considered a luxury anymore, it is a need nowadays. The outstanding impact of technology in the world can have some controversial aspects, but one thing is true, it can make our lives a lot easier with the appropriate use. (Mercado 107) One of the greatest advantages of technology for all human beings is the chance to increase productivity in less time. Most people need some form of social interaction in their daily lives and if that is taken away we are left feeling isolated and unhappy. Youngsters are now more reliant on technology and a good percent have now become addicted to online gaming which in turn has made them more withdrawn from social activities. Bullying has seen an increase as kids are now able to hide behind social media and bully peers after school hours.
For ages people have been stereotyping and coming up with misconceptions about individuals or groups. They both have negative and positive stand points depending on the topic of discussion which then results in their correlated reaction. However, while technology has provided the ability to communicate with people halfway across the world and opened a comfortable space for teens, it is believed to have affected not just the interaction among others, but furthermore writing skills. Although technology and communication has given individuals the ability to do things that would not have been done before, writing online has had a negative impact on a person’s writing which can be proven through the writings of Malcolm X, Gannon, and Daum. Online writing has diminished the amount of time individuals spend reading challenging texts, further limiting their vocabulary.
