The “Mama might be better of dead” is a book that has an ethnographic story of the life of four generations of African American families who live in one of the poorest communities in Chicago. It takes place in the 1990’s in the North Lawndale and it is located in the Westside Abraham (2013). The story discusses in detail how the health care system does not work for most low income families. The story states that the Banks family is going through many challenging and traumatic situations where they do not have all the necessary health care due to low income. This story deliberates that Jackie Banes is head of household and she takes care of her grandmother, Cora Jackson who suffers from a diabetes, high blood pressure and had her leg amputated due to not getting treatment right away.

08/05/15 MSW made a re-visit with Pt and caregiver/friend. CG stated Darel from HEAP in Needles did not contact or make a visit to inspect the house, even after he told the MSW he would. Pt is stable now, prior to having a fall last week and being admitted to the hospital. CG is now back from a trip to Washington for family affairs. MSW spent an hour contacting the Community Action Partership of San Bernardino County, HEAP of Needles to get ahold of Darel and every weatherization agency in the county for assistance, but no one was answering their phones.
Attempt CC =1 CM spoke to Johnda Neazer (DCP&P Supervisor) regarding the family’s current living situation. DCP&P supervisor provided CM with a detailed background on the family and noted that DCP&P will assist the family with housing such as the first month rent and security deposit once caregiver finds housing. DCP&P supervisor explained to CM that the division is unable to place the family into a hotel due to Welfare offering the family to stay at a shelter in Newark and caregiver denied offer. CM was informed that DCP&P only place families in a hotel if they are homeless and does not have assistance such as shelter opportunities. DCP&P supervisor stated DCP&P assisted caregiver with a budget form.
Mrs. Navarro asked the CP if the CP can provide her with information about entering the shelter, at which the CP agreed to do so. Mentoring Program: The CP provided Mrs. Navarro with information about SCR and mentoring programs for Tyler to explore. Mrs. Navarro reported that she enrolled Tyler and Sidney for the PAL afterschool program, but Tyler refuses to attend-so, the child’s application is placed on hold, according to Mrs. Navarro. Tyler was questioned as to why he is not going to the after school program and based on the child response, he could not provide a proper answer.

While there is tension between Berniece and Boy Willie it begins to build in a dispute over the family piano. Boy Willie is arguing with Berniece over the piano and says he should get it because he is going to buy land,so he will build of of it which the ancestors would have wanted.

She is the director of a drop in homeless shelter for the mentally ill and homeless, everything was going just fine until the street drugs started getting into the shelter and the people that stay in the shelter started getting a lot more violent and using the shelter as a way to call there “connect” to get more drugs. They were losing a lot of their staff members because of the situation, which left them very short staffed and Sarah was there alone at night a lot of the time. She had been sexually assaulted. Her life was getting threatened on a daily basis and she was just a wreck she hated even getting up in the morning.

On 10/26/16 CM went to unit #222 due a complaint that water was coming from that unit causing some damages to the ceiling in unit #122, situation that has been happing before and was fixed by the maintenance personal. CM ask Ms. Footman was happen she say that anything was fine in her unit, however based on CM observation , the bathroom tub was wet , signs that someone recently took a shower but the floor was dry. Ms. Footman denied having any flood in the unit at that moment. On 11/27/16 CM went to conduct the Safe Sleep inspection with the DHS Compliance Analyst Jeanette Chirico, while in the second floor we went to unit #222 assigned to Ms. Tiana Footman and her three children.
Management of Care Case Study Josepha is working on a medical surgical unit with three other RNs and one LPN. There is also a male and a female patient care tech.
