Locke and Latham’s theory “He showed that clear goals and appropriate feedback motivates employees” is very relevant to performance management as it defines by setting clear and achievable goals that the workers will improve overall results.
Performance Management is defined in the SIS process as a “systematic process for improving organisational performance by developing the performance of individuals and team. It is a means of getting better results from the organisation, teams and individuals by understanding and managing performance within an agreed framework of goals, standards and competence requirements”. This is so true and achievable through setting the right goals.

The introduction of a bi-monthly Business update to include a suggestion scheme to put forward our ideas and for which financial incentives could be offered, and an initiative to introduce an Investors in People accreditation; this accreditation will help us understand where we need to improve in the area around people management. All department managers who already meet quarterly, should meet once a month to agree objectives and goals, they should be clear about what is expected of them.
