Along with television came advertisements. Advertisements began targeting children and more junk food was being promoted than healthy food. Children with diabetes has become more common and childhood obesity has increased drastically. If we are so big on ending obesity, why is it we still see so many McDonald’s commercials or other fast food commercials? Patel goes on later to talk about the amount of time spent cooking and eating and how it has fallen dramatically.
He does not ignore the opposing views one might take to his claim, but instead acknowledges them and provides a counter for why he believes his case is worth considering. Furthermore, he declares that this topic concerns everyone, as there is proof that there is a correlation between rising health care costs and the fast-food market. These conclusions, which Zinczenko discusses in his essay, add weight to the argument that checks need to be put in place on the fast-food industry in terms of marketing and advertising to make sure that customers know what they are consuming and to lower health care costs and increase the general health of society. Some action must be taken against the fast-food industries, such as limiting their advertising or enforcing rules on more easily accessible and conspicuous nutrition facts on the products consumers are purchasing, as has been done since the time of this
America is one of the most obese countries in the world, known for apple pie and an excessive amount of McDonald’s. As a culture, there is a lack of self control when it comes to the foods we consume. People often over consume and over indulge, which has wreaked havoc on the health and well being of those who give in to these temptations. The issue is that large corporations and even our own government play a role in helping feed the problem; they care more about profitability and benefiting the business than the health of the consumer. The health of Americans is declining and more chronic diseases and health problems are appearing as a result of unhealthy diets, but there are many different methods that can help fix this issue.
Furthermore, if there was more government intervention, there wouldn’t be consumer crises to begin with. Since consumer crises are a growing issue, it is important that the government takes necessary action to make it a declining one. “The scientific community overwhelmingly agrees that trans fats pose major health risks, and the FDA estimates that a ban could prevent 7,000 deaths and 20,000 heart attacks every year” (Filipovic). This shows how reluctant the government is to intervene because despite the clear negative effects of trans fat, it is still widely distributed within the food industry. Additionally, the government generally pushes forward a more individualist approach to food and water safety, which most people contend that it should instead be more systematic.
In short, many people around the United States suffer from food instability and hunger. People can’t always help the situations they are in, but there are things almost everyone can do to help the hunger situation in

The amount of unhealthy food consumed in America goes well beyond McDonalds. In fact, you have to go no farther than your local grocery store to find equally as terrible food choices. For example, in recent years the government has put out warnings against eating fat in excess, which lead many big food companies, from yogurt to Wheat Thins, to send out new products with “less fat”. However, products with “less fat” actually have nearly twice as much sugar. Many studies have shown that sugar in excess is much worse than fat.

Even though the above-mentioned appeals sounded convincing, ‘heart-breaking’, and has diminished hunger and its consequences in some households in the united, there may be a hidden agenda for the No Kid Hungry commercial, which include political and financial profits. Also, the commercial presents its short coming just like any other advertising company: The unrealistic goal which intended to end hunger in America by the year 2015 has not been achieved in
Today life is on the fast track. People are always on the go and don’t have time to properly take care of themselves or their families. For most Americans, fast food and junk food are ready to grab for a snack or a quick dinner. They don’t slow down to think about how the foods they are eating effect their long term health. Fewer and fewer families take the time to prepare a nutritious meal and are passing down bad habits to their children.
Action must be taken by the food industry in order to start eliminating the problems that are causing the society to deteriorate. There are countless health issues within America that continue to grow due to the fact that the food industry is not regulating the food being provided and sole enough.
