In this experiment crickets are going to be drugged with two amounts of caffeine. Crickets are omnivores and scavengers that feed on organic materials, as well as decaying plant material, fungi, and seedling plants. They are usually medium-sized to large insects, and known to be relatives and/or look alike to a grasshopper. Crickets can live for a year or more, but usually can't survive more than one winter. Crickets hide in the daytime, and they are very alert to predators. They are able to move fast with their powerful legs and hide if needed with their dark green color. Like most insects, crickets are more active and chirp faster and louder on a warmer night than on a cold one. Crickets are not too important
The hands were washed. Goggles were placed on the eyes for extra protection. A petri dish containing nine pill bugs were obtained and set aside for later use. Two water bottles’ ends were cut and taped to each other creating a miniature tunnel for the pill bugs to crawl in. 50 mL of tap water was obtained in a small beaker and then was slowly moved into the lid of the bottle using a funnel. The sugar used in this experiment was created by mixing ten milliliters of starch, glucose, and regular countertop sugar. This was transferred into the joint water bottle tunnel using a funnel. Both ends of the tunnel were sealed shut and each measurements were taken every three minutes and final measurements were taken after 21 minutes. The results were
In the second experiment our hypothesis stated that when the number of males placed in a dish are increased with a (sustained) amount of one female beetle, the time span of the mating process will decrease because the female will have of an option. This hypothesis was not supported because with the trials we preformed the results showed that the different ratio of dishes had a different time span of which they
In this experiment, Pill bugs were exposed to different environments within a closed space and observed to determine which environment they preferred. The four different environments tested consisted of flowers, dirt, grass, and an empty space. Ten pill bugs were placed within the shoe box and observed for a total of 15 minutes to determine what environment the bugs preferred. The independent variables were the different conditions in each section of the shoe box, while the dependent variable was the behavior the pill bugs displayed. Throughout the experiment, the control variable was the empty section of the shoe box. By the end of the experiment, it became clear that the pill bugs preferred the environment consisting of dirt over the other
Honey bees are very important to people in the world. Not only do honeybees produce honey, but they do much more to help people. Malcolm T Sanford, a professor at the University of Florida says “the honey bee is credited with approximately 85% of the pollinating activity necessary to supply about one-third of the nation’s food supply” (Sanford 1). Over 50 major corps rely on honey bees for pollination (Sanford 1). Without the pollination, the crops will not get what they need for them to grow and produce. With this result, a majority of crops may be lost. According to Justin Moyer, a reporter at the Washington post, “The USDA estimated that honeybees add more than $15 billion to the value of the country’s crops per year” (Moyer 1).The honey
In “The Obligation to Endure”, Rachel Carson talks about the interaction between humans and their environment. In the past century, the environment is what influenced humans and its surroundings but recently, it is man that has that effect on the environment. Carson states that in recent times, “man acquired significant power to alter the nature of his world” (422). This means that man’s ability to make changes to nature and its environment is great but at the same time, if not carefully done has hazardous consequences towards it. In the past quarter century, Carson explains that man unknowingly seems to harm the environment with chemicals and experiments which damages seems to be irreversible once unleashed. The radioactive isotope Strontium 90 is released when there is a nuclear explosion and the residue falls to the soil and contaminates it which in turn contaminates the water we
In this experiment, we are testing whether or not the Isopods' have more of a preference for an environment with syrup or with water. The alternative hypothesis we devised is that if the Isopods are placed in between a syrup and a water chamber, then they will go towards the syrup chamber. This is believed because we believe the Isopods may have an attraction to the sweet scent and taste of the syrup. My group and I observed 10 pillbugs behavior over the span of 5 minutes, recording the number of pill bugs found in each chamber every 30 seconds. We fail to reject the null hypothesis because the chi squared value is 3.6 which is less than 3.84 (critical value at .05). This indicates that we are unable to show a statistical difference between Isopods preferring the syrup environment over the water environment.
In India political factor is very vulnerable. Political factors, like changing government, political leaders and political issue directly
Anne McClintock wrote her essay “Gonad the Barbarian and the Venus Flytrap: Portraying the female and male orgasm” to examine pornography and how it has changed throughout history and its effects on how women perform as sexual beings. McClintock focuses on the various roles of pornography such as its emphasis on voyeurism, pleasure, and the male ego. She wants her readers to know that women are still not represented in pornography to satisfy their own desires, but they are there to cater to men and their subconscious. I will analyze how McClintock argues that due to the history of sexism towards women, the roles that men and women have in pornography are inherently different because of the societal belief that women are only seen as objects of sexual desire and are solely there to satisfy the male audience.
Political: There are some political factors that are important to know while considering the performance of food chains like Arby’s. These factors can have an impact on Arby’s such as the health and safety rules provided by the government of the state/country in which the Arby’s division works. These rules can have a direct role in creating the strategies and approaches. Moreover, health-associated campaigns by the government have an impact on the food chains like Arby’s. Political factors also comprise of laws, activities and groups that impact and limit companies and individuals in a certain culture and society. The proportions being estimated consist of the government approach to foreign markets, the constancy and financial rules

Predation is a biological interaction between two organisms of different species in a community in which one acts as a predator and captures and feeds on the other, the prey. Predator-prey relationships keep animal populations in balance. When prey populations increase more food is available for predators, and they increase in number as well. An increase in predators triggers a decrease in prey populations. As prey populations decrease predator populations soon follow as their food supply diminishes. Organisms can evolve to enhance their ability to catch prey, or flee predators. Coevolution occurs in a predator-prey relationship when the prey evolves in response to pressures exerted by its predator. The predator then evolves in response to the changes in the prey (or vice versa). Inheritable adaptive traits evolve through natural selection, the process by which organisms that have developed favorable traits are capable of surviving and reproducing at greater rates, thus passing their adaptive traits to their offspring.
What are Pesticides and Why are they used? A question that often times arises in are minds. But there is only one explaination so that way farmers can have crops with a higher yield and will bring more money. On the other hand, pesticides are not a good idea because, they are in the food we eat and water we drink. These Pesticides are hurting tens of thousands of animals and humans each and every day and we don´t even realize it either.
Bees work to pollinate and make honey, that is why we need to stop using pesticides. The chemicals in the pesticides are toxic to not only wasps, flies, and other pesky insects the pesticides are also toxic to bees.
