several pro-gun advocates believe that the more gun laws that are enacted, the less law abiding citizens are to use them to protect themselves. None of the gun-control measures above, gunlock, creating gun prohibition and waiting a month to buy your second gun, wouldn't have stopped any of these terribly unfortunate massacres that occurred in these schools. it's a very sad time in America when it comes to the issues of regulating. Logical decisions must be based on facts, not emotions to create the laws we live by for us and for the sake of our
Gun Control is a good thing in many different ways for many people. However, when you have a law abiding citizen who can not purchase a gun because the restrictions are too high then there is a problem. Gun Control was made to keep a person who has something on their record like drunk driving multiple times, armed robbery, or illegal citizen from buying a gun because the government wants to keep everyone safe and does not want to harm anybody. As stated in my research found in a world encyclopedia, “Many people own guns for the protection of their home.” (“Gun 440”). What the article is saying is that if you take away the handgun of a citizen who has done no harm, and when there is a need for the protection of your family and they have no gun then they have nothing else to do but hide and hope the criminal does not find them before the police come.
People also believe that any kind of automatic or semi-automatic gun should be banned in the United States. According to the New York Times, 486 people have died from mass shootings since 2000. Most of time, the shooting ends before police can even make it to the scene. The amount of shootings have increased in the past seven years. The United States has been trying to find ways to prevent school shootings since the massacre at Sandy Hook elementary.
Since the 1960s, gun ownership has declined in the US. Which has caused the firearm homicides to drop also. The correlation of these two aspects, creates a compelling result that should raise awareness to the fact of the matter. Gun laws in the United States should be more contained. To accomplish results, our country needs to reconsider and change how we regulate firearms in the hands of the population. As of now anyone can buy and own a gun at the minimum age of 18 or 21, depending on the type.
The enforcement of stricter gun control laws would be extremely beneficial for the safety of the people in the United States. Stricter gun control laws would ensure guns do not fall in the hands of people who would misuse them. For example, individuals who are 21-years-old and below should not be given the right to own or be around guns. For if they are not allowed to legally drink alcohol, how can they be trusted with a weapon that can easily take a life within seconds.
Firstly, as the author mentioned in “ Gun Control Won’t Protect US”, gun is only a tool that used by the killer to attack others. And gun is not the only weapon the killer used. Secondly, most of people who abide by the law will limit by the gun control. They have no weapons to against people who don’t care about laws and try to kill others. Additionally, allowing people have guns will infuse people’s courage to against terrorist activities.
And, every year around 100,000 people are shot among which 18,000 are children and teens (Lane, 131). There is an estimation that about half of the households in the United States owns at least one gun. As such many people can have access to guns, including children and other family members. Many school based attacks involve young people carrying guns owned by their parents and going on a rage through schools and other places. Similarly, the ease of acquiring guns has led to vulnerable deaths of people across the country.
People who are against guns say that guns are one of the many reasons why we have so many suicides and homicides. Not all people commit Suicide by shooting themselves most people nowadays are killing themselves by overdosing and hanging themselves not by shooting there self in the head. There are many other ways for someone to commit suicide. One of the biggest arguments on why people think guns should be banned is because of the school shooting in florida. So therefor people believe banning guns will solve the problem of school shootings.
Beside the loss of lives, the number of gun violence the country has experienced in a short period of time makes the issue more serious. Thus, lawmakers need to step up and pass stricter gun control laws. When compared to other developed countries, the USA has a higher gun related
Should guns be banned because some people use them in the wrong way? What if a gun could potentially save someone’s life by being used in the right way. What if it was used to provide food for the family? So why punish everyone who owns guns that does not use them in the wrong way? There are multiple reasons gun control laws will not work.
