Selena Quintanilla was a very successful “Tex-Mex” singer, who, from the beginning of her life to the end of it, had an extraordinary life. After one time of singing to her father, a band was created and she was put into the singing world. Since that day, many journeys occurred. She has performed in many places like Mexico and Texas. She even got married and won a Grammy. Though, after a tragic murder ending her life, Selena will always be remembered as the first successful female Tejano singer.

The “Queen of Tejano” music, her contributions to music and fashion made her one of the most celebrated Mexican-American entertainers of the late 20th century. Billboard magazine named her the “Top Latin Artist of the 90s” and then “Best Selling Latin Artist of the decade”. Selena ranks among the most influential Latin artists of all time and is credited for catapulting a music genre into the mainstream market. Even though Selena was murdered, she achieved many great things throughout her lifetime. She is remembered today for her wonderful accomplishments. Selena was one of many Mexican-Americans to achieve crossover success with her music to become a global artist.

The article, “40 Latinas Who Have Changed the World!,” states, “...Cristina inspired and motivated for decades with her self-titled hit Univision show.” She is a role model for many Hispanic women in Florida. According to “Time Magazine,” she is one of the top 25 influential Hispanics in the US.
As an educated woman, Ellen Ochoa. The first hispanic women who became an astronaut, and along the way still grew more successful. She inspired plenty of women to go after what people said they could not. Ochoa let the women know that they have the power to go and pursue their dreams no matter what or how difficult it gets. Not only did she set a role to the women, she set a role to the kids.
