The Pros And Cons Of Non Renewable Energy

In today's world, the human population consumes an alarming amount of non renewable energy. According to the USDE, the United States department of energy, about two trillion dollars has been spent on energy alone (2013). As the human population continues to grow rapidly our current stocks of energy is being depleted even faster. However through different means of technological improvement and changing the type of energy being used the entire human population will live on a more sustainably. According to the IPCC, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (2007), the over consumption of non-renewable forms of energy is quickly depleting the availability of the resource. Current energy sources are finite and because we use a form of energy that cannot renew itself, such as …show more content…

According to the BBC ( 2013), a UK based public service broadcaster there are many disadvantages to using alternative energy sources .One being the costs that come with building the solar panels for harnessing the suns energy, or the dams for controlling the pressure of hydroelectric power in streams or rivers. They also argue that the construction of the dams have a negative impact on wild life in the area and may reduce the flow of water and disrupt the flow of sewage out to the sea.Another issue that came up was the “destruction” of the country side because of the construction of the wind turbines. However, most of these “damages” are better for the environment in the long run. Standing wind turbines, and pressurized water flow and solar panels will more likely save the earth than hurt it the way burning fossil fuels is damaging it.The human population is growing at an alarming rate, we need to start living sustainably through renewable forms of energy sources in order to sustain the planet and its forms of non renewable
