The relevance of Social constructivist and cognitive development learning theory to this study is that, Vygotsky incorporated the importance of social interactions and a co-constructed knowledge base to the theory of cognitive development. Therefore, cooperative learning instructions also enables social interaction among children and teachers which are one of the important ways children learn knowledge available. In addition, children use conversations in working with their peers in handling exercises, projects and problems. In this way, they exchange ideas and receive information, thereby generating understanding and developing knowledge. It increases knowledge transfer and also the development of scientific and technological skills in learners since learners can view the package repeatedly till he/she masters the skills (Lasisi & Daniel, 2009).
In the use of videos, challenges do exist for wider adoption of video in the classroom. These challenges include;
i. Technological challenges: In some institutions, the use of video seems to be a challenge due to access to the technology especially when bandwidth is lacking, an issue frequently found in rural areas. Others cannot afford the bandwidth from their service providers necessary to deliver the quality of service expected by their teachers and learners. ii. Legislative challenges: Some challenges are legislative in nature. For instance, the use of Technologies in some nations must meet requirement of special needs of learners; in other cases, there might be an absence of a science and technology policy or even a deficit in government funding directed towards the implementation of new technologies in the classroom.
