The US is relying on biofuel to reduce its dependence on oil since 2006, and it contributed significantly to reduce the oil consumption. According to data collected 93 billion liters of biofuel is produced in total in the year of 2009. This amount of biofuel displaced the 68 billion of gasoline in total gasoline consumption in the same year. That counted 5% of the total gasoline production in the world.
According to Global Public Opinion Survey, there is significant support in the utilization of renewable resources, and also in the development of their required utilities. The most prominent disadvantage of renewable energy is the quantity of energy it provides. Only a small fraction of world’s energy requirement can be fulfilled by the use of renewable energy.
