The fact of the matter is if you ask people what their responsibilities as Americans are, you 'll usually get blank face and maybe a poorly thought out statement about jury duty or paying taxes. When I go about my responsibilities as an american my opinion may be a bit bias but the freedoms and rights we enjoy in this country are incomparable to any other nation. For this reason there are certain responsibilities that to any american should be easy to fulfil. We should make our own way to success. No one else owes you anything, not the government and not other taxpayers.
Justice is our body of law. The Government and the police in america allow us to be able to live our dreams, do what we want, and build something. Sometimes you can’t get the supplies, for example a lot of stuff requires a permit. You are supporting Americanism by buying stuff. When you are voting for a new president, you are using your political power.
also to have a good education. It means that I can say "The Pledge of Allegiance" and that I can vote for the President, and the Mayor. But to me it means most of all to be free and to be proud that I live in the United States of America because not all people have the benefit of being free some people out there are fighting half killing each other just to support themselves and their families. Being an American also means that we are treated equally no matter what color skin we may have, and it doesn 't matter what culture you are from and we also have rights that give us the ability of freedom of speech; i also get to go to school for free and you can go wherever you want u want to go to the beach or maybe to the mall or just to a friends house u can go in peace and parents can let their kids go to school or on field trips by themselves without the fear of their kids getting hurt. because we are american we can have privileges like caring for your community like say You could join a trash pickup.
I thought the American Dream looked over those who starved and others that are trying to make a living. People from other countries only see the bad in us; however, there is a good side! America lets us have freedom! You can have different beliefs, same sex marriage, and nobody having to hold you back. I’m glad I live in a country where I can persuade myself into doing more and becoming a prime example of the American
To emphasize, rights, equality and having a strong government is very important. Looked at through the eyes of many other countries, Americans are spoiled. Americans don’t realize how much freedom we actually have. To name a few rights of an American citizen; freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, and the right to peacefully assemble. Every American takes advantage of these rights every day.
The Electoral College also helps uniformed voters not have a have a huge say in government. Obviously, U.S. citizens do not want uneducated voters to vote directly. Using the Electoral College system of government, Americans have the power to vote for the candidate they want and have a say in the presidential
There were even additional means created in order to restrict what power that the government did have. America’s society has some distinctive characteristics that separate it from that of the rest of the world. Although diverse, the American society is unified in the number of traits that they all share. All American citizens value their individuality as well as their equality. Americans are not afraid to voice their opinions or to oppose something that they disagree with.
In the current political environment, the question “What does it mean to be an American” is one that really caused me to think and reflect deeply. And while some are vowing to “Make America Great Again”, I think there are already a number of things that already make America great and make me proud to be an American. Early on, our founding fathers suggested through the Constitution that at its core, what it meant to be American was simply “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” That’s a fairly simplistic notion and the focus of my essay explores whether this literal interpretation can still apply in today’s more complex society or whether being an American requires more than that. As I try to answer this question myself, I began first by trying to inventory the things I appreciate most about America. I quickly determined that the things I cherish most might be quite different than my other classmates, friends, and possibly my own family and that’s when I realized that the discretion to express your own ideas and to think
In recent years, Immigration has become one of a plethora of hot topics during political races. Politicians, like many Americans, see our great nation as a prize only of the deserving. The United States symbolize the land of the free. Even before the signing of the Declaration of Independent in 1776, immigrants flocked to the United States of America in search of their three fundamental rights endowed in the Preamble – “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”. Everyone, including people who immigrated to the United States illegally, should have an equal opportunity to attain these inalienable rights.
In America I believe in Freedom. Freedom means that anyone in America has the right to act, speak, or think however they want without restraint. Freedom to me means that I can do whatever I want or anyone, but there needs to be a limit on freedom. People in the World today think they have a lot of freedom to do stuff that they can’t and that is what I am going to talk to you about. In the World I think in some aspects we have too much freedom and in other aspects we don’t have enough.
