The first leadership role I would like to mention is my role as an assistant teacher/helper during the summer at our local Boys and Girls Club. The next leadership role I would like to mention is my role as a VBS teacher at my church in Starkville, Ms. I would like to be able to acquire more leadership roles and such in the future to further my leadership horizon. ~What Being a Leader Means to Me~ There are some key things that make a leader a leader to me. The first one is not panicking in the presence of mistake or failure. The second thing is a strong sense of courage and willingness to lead with pride.
A leader is someone that is in charge of a group, organization, country, etc. A leader is also someone that perfects all the views of leadership, this is important because when a leader is facing a situation he or she will know how to handle it. Everyone has leadership qualities but it's how you use these qualities and traits that make you a good or bad leader. For instance, Oprah is viewed as a good leader because although she went through a lot of issues in her life she was able to use those trials as a way to inspire others. A bad leader is Rafael trujillo,
The Meaning of Being a Leader Being a leader is more than making people follow you. A leader is someone who knows how to manage and help others do the right thing. In The Odyssey, it’s characters portrayed many traits that show great leadership skills. Such as perseverance and confidence can make a good and strong leader.
You always behave, get work done on time, respect others, show your manners, and etc. Being a leader means you set a certain criteria for everyone around you and not show them what they should be, but show them that they have the potential to be that and more. To be a leader you must be supportive of your peers, help those in need when possible, you must be able to preserve through adverse situations with critical thinking, and above all inspire yourself and others to strive for the best of their
What does it take to become a good leader? Good leadership gives instruction for people to follow and inspire them to do their best. “If then, we were to believe the evidence of our senses, was it not obvious that flocks and herds were more ready to obey their keepers than men their rulers?”- CYROPAEDA. Cyrus was such a good leader people wanted to know how to please him and him alone.
Leadership is can mean different things to different people. To me, leadership is more than having a title and subordinates. Leadership is having the courage to make the right choices, engage others in a vision, and empower your subordinates with a shared purpose and to achieve positive impacts. Leadership can also be relational which means it takes teamwork, requires you to be able to work with others in various backgrounds and that may have difference perspectives. Leadership also requires continuous learning, discerned decision making, and savvy communication skills.
Synthesizing the Metaphor of Leadership Effectiveness Introduction An effective Leadership helps those who are doing poorly or those who are doing well to do even better because as a leader you will respect if you prove to others that you are capable to your position or consistently prove working well. According to Dennis, Perkins, Paul, and Jillian (2009). Drawing on the power of resonant metaphor, coaches and the leaders advise can increase their effectiveness and produce consequential change because it create positive relationships and vibrant environmental to encourage others toward a common goal. The power of resonant metaphor can use to increase leadership effectiveness because people are less likely to be distracted by an aberrant
INTRODUCTION Leadership may be defined as the influence that leaders have upon their employees. In other words, leadership may be defined as the, “the ability of an individual to influence, motivate and enable others to contribute towards the effectiveness and success of the organisation of which they are members” (Gerstner & Day, 1997). Leaders are the people who innovate, motivate, develop and inspire the members to ensure the good working of the organisation and to further the goal of the organisation. There are a few certain characteristics and traits that make up a good and effective leader. Here, we are going to discuss four key features that I believe will make an effective leader.
Leadership is defined by “A leader is one or more people who selects, equips, trains, and influences one or more follower(s) who have diverse gifts, abilities, and skills and focuses the follower(s) to the organization’s mission and objectives causing the follower(s) to willingly and enthusiastically expend spiritual, emotional, and physical energy in a concerted coordinated effort to achieve the organizational mission and objectives.” (Winston, 2006). Since the beginning of time the belief has been that leadership is something you are either born with or not. The debate is about whether leadership is innate or can it be taught. Nature or innate characteristics are behaviours that we are born we have since birth.
There are many different views and perceptions on leadership and what it exactly means. This is because there are many different types of leaders and many different views on them. But the basic meaning of leadership is an individual who can select the right group of followers and influence them through their distinct gifts, abilities, skills and knowledge. A leader focuses on the follower and puts out a roadmap to the overall mission and vision; hereby the follower is influenced to willingly and enthusiastically in achieving the mission and vision. The leader achieves this influence by humbly delivering a visionary perception of the future in clear terms that resonates with the follower in terms of their believes and values.
Introduction To be a good leader in a way, you need to know how to influence, motivate and let others to contribute towards the road of success which they are the members in the organisations. There are a lot of elements of leadership which lead the leader to be a good leader. The most common element is motivating others and keep on stimulating the desire and energy into people to continually interest and committed to attain a goal. Different element created different types of leadership which is useful on different environment. One of the leadership style that is very common in Asian country, the “power distance”.
From my point of view , Leadership has more to it than I can possibly imagine. I define leadership as the art of enabling a group of people get to a specific destination. As a leader your main focus was to enable your followers lead theselves. As i think deeper i realise a person cannot choose to be a leader. I think a lot of the time people take on leadership positions without knowing.
One of the most important characteristics of a good leader is that they must be actually prepared to lead under any circumstance. This sounds like something that should go without saying, but it is surprising just how many people who are in a leadership role are not prepared to take an active role in leading their team. A good leader does not sit back and observe what is going
To be a successful leader I also agree that one needs to have certain characteristic and skills. A leader needs to be able to simple lead, as you have stated. They need to direct and guide people to fulfill shared goals. Communication is also another huge skill. A leader needs to be able to clearly communicate, build relationships, motivate others, inspire others, and be a role model to create a positive work environment and culture that will accept change and innovation in the company.
Teaching elementary school students the basics of stage lighting as part of their musical theatre program has shown me the importance of recognizing the limitations of myself as a leader and not being afraid to seek the wisdom and experience of others. Being a leader does not necessarily mean that they know everything. In some instances, they are the last to know. What makes a leader effective is not their knowledge capability, but their ability to see learning opportunities in even the direst of circumstances. When I started volunteering, I did not know much about stage lighting.
