Most public schools in the US have a 10-month long school period with a 2-month long summer break. An year round school is a 180 day school year with short breaks in between each term. Year round schooling has been going on in most arguments about whether it is going to improve student learning.

It’s Time for a New School Schedule Some schools have a year-round schedule, and some schools have a summer break. Even though the school year would seem longer, schools should go year round. We would retain more information, holiday breaks are still in use, and we get weeks off after a number of school weeks.

Some schools are considering year round school. Year round school would be great. No more being bored in the summer. Students would have less of a chance to forget what they have already learned. It keeps kids busy and out of trouble.
Traditional school versus Year round school The idea of year round school is starting to be more the topic of discussion. Many people are for the idea of year round education and many are against it. “If our country began on a year around schedule, it would have seemed bizarre to propose the summer- off schedule as a superior way to educate students” says Principle Hazel Colebank. Although some may feel year round school is great for bettering education, changing what’s considered normal could cause more harm than good.
Should schools convert to a year-round school schedule? Some schools have been questioning whether they should have a schedule that has classes year-round instead of a regular schedule, where there are no classes in the summer. If schools were to have a year-round schedule, this is how it would work. The students would be split into four different groups called tracks. There would be three tracks in school at a time, while the other track would be on a break.
School Year Round Why would anyone want to go to school a year-round? (Rhetorical Question) School should be a year-round because then students will not forget their learning, be more focused on their education and it will be easier to earn their credits in a shorter period of time. Firstly, A school year-round should be offered each year so students will not forget the learning. Many students that come back from their summer break most likely struggle on what they have learned, for instance, everyone ignores most of the subjects and methods that everyone discovered last year.
When considering the choice of whether, schools should convert to year round schooling or not, the choice should definitely be schools should not convert to year round schooling. A few reasons schools should not convert to year round schooling is because students can even forget something they learned, in a short period of time, and then the teachers would have to reteach the same topic, which is extremely frustrating. The students would also spend less time with their family, because they don’t have the traditional summer break. Not only that, but it causes parents more stress to have to plan ahead of time for how they were going to take care of their children whenever they had breaks (which were very frequent). If this claim is not listened to, teachers teach the same thing repeatedly, family bonds weaken, it disrupts parents work, and it risks the child’s safety.
The only reason people wouldn’t agree would be because they want to spend time with their children, but they will still be able to because year round schooling gives short bursts of breaks about two weeks every other month(Towler). Finally, Year-Round Schooling would be a great idea to interpret and merge into our school . so that we can not just learn more but not be stressed out and forget what we learned the previous year. What they don’t know is that the People around kids need them to go to school all the time not just for education but, also so they may go to work and feed their families.
This is another reason year-round school should not move to Florida. Lastly, a year-round school schedule may offer more breaks, but there is no proof that it helped students academically. Therefore the year-round school schedule does not truly benefit students or teachers. Also the more frequent breaks may pose the problem of students forgetting information after every break, which would cause for more review in class which does not help students learn new things.
(Weller 3). This is a problem because it takes away quality family time from students, which is essential for their well-being. Thirdly, a second benefit is that the year-round schooling system helps solve the problem of overcrowding. (Zubrzycki 1). Since all students wouldn 't be in school all at the same time, it eliminates the overcrowding problem.
I am against year-round schooling because it gives students little to no time for breaks, it would become an inconvenience to students, teachers, and parents, and it would burn students out much more quickly. Having to work all year round would bee annoying to anybody, including students. Year- round schooling gives students little to no breaks from school without counting holiday vacations. It does mean students would go to school for less days a week, however, this would also mean teachers would have to compensate for this by giving them a lot of homework over this extended weekend. Students would still be working during these days so they might as well have just had school on those days.
Although, year round students will on average attend about nine more days of school per year than students on a traditional calendar (Zubrzycki). Even though year round schools are rising in popularity in most places, they aren’t everywhere. An example of a place they are decreasing in popularity is in the Los Angeles school district (Zubrzycki). All of their schools were changed to a year round school schedule starting in the mid 1980s (Zubrzycki). Today only one school still remains on the year round schedule because it was less effective for learning and hard on students
Questions about education always are debatable- how to improve it, how students can get possible education, what is the best way to teach students, etc. A constant discussion in the USA – should schools be in session year round? When schools just started to work, summers were necessary because children needed to do farm work, however nowadays summer vacation from school does not have any more that purpose. Year-round education is a concept which reorganizes the school year to provide more continuous learning by spacing the long summer vacation into shorter, more frequent vacations throughout the year (Johnson). Year-round schools may be on a single-track or multi-track schedule.
