“Classroom management is first and foremost about creating classroom environment in which all students can feel safe and comfortable, and are able to maximize their learning of important social and academic skills” (Jones and Jones, 1981, p.29). Under the management of physical environment, desk arrangement of observed classroom has 4 desks per row, altogether 9 rows in a classroom. Students were placed in an arranged desks and chairs which means they were placed in rows of 4 students. Boys and girls were mixed. Because of this arrangement teacher does not have enough space to move around and will face difficulties to cope every student in the class with ease. Furthermore, If the students were in rows it takes lots of time to make groups when …show more content…
Another strength which found in observed classroom is that the classroom is decorated well by pasting classroom rules, student’s behavior rewards tree, key competencies, individual work area and group work area. Teacher can make it more perfect by pasting success criteria board and vocabulary board etc. The type of displays teacher place in the classroom will outline what kind of teacher you are and specific style of teaching. Displays also work really well to allow students to understand what is expected of them – if the classroom have a bright, fun display board with key learning objectives highlighted then it is both fun and …show more content…
Overall the emotional climate of the classroom helps students to achieve the objectives of the lesson. Good classroom emotional climate avoids the abrasive disciplinary practices which plays an important role in achievement of the lesson objectives. “Classroom rated low in classroom emotional climate tend to have teachers who are unresponsive to students’ needs, an absence of emotional bonds between teachers and students, and an atmosphere of mistrust and disrespect (Brackett, reyes, Rivers, Elbertson, & salovey, 2011). So it’s very important to have better emotional climate in order to achieve learning goals. It was observed that the physical environment of classroom does not have any effect on achieving learning goals as teacher does not reflect lesson on any of decorations and seating
During the observation portion of this assignment, I observed in a fifth grade ELL classroom. The teacher in charge of this class is Anissa Rose. She has been an ELL teacher for many years and teaches students in kindergarten through the 8th grade. This paper will discuss whether or not the students were aware of the class language and content objective, how the teacher instructed the content and language objectives, the type of group configurations, and how the teacher accommodated for different ELP levels.
I have been doing my student observation at Scobee Middle School with Coach David Ellis. He currently teaches 8th grade U.S. History. Coach Ellis has different approach for each child in his different classes. These approach help him keep the class in order and help keep the students on track.
So they will move around or get in groups and do an active. The environment in the classroom was very friendly and open. The desk were like in the middle of the room. So it feels like you are not left out.
With the study conducted with three groups of teachers in the 1970’s proved that seating for each child is necessary even when doing other group projects with children. Children will require to be seated during the day in order to effectively retain the lesson. The prime example used was writing lessons children can’t be expect to write standing up or laying on the floor. They often found it was more of a disruption to the class in order to find adequate seating for each child when for example the children wanted to engage in an activity that require them to sit like playing hairdresser.
In the event that, I record observations of my first leader for one family I provide care for, I have determined that she is in most definitely task oriented. To demonstrate, she prioritizes her daily schedule by following her everyday tasks. First, she has us wake up the kids the same time everyday for school followed by breakfast. Second she preps their lunches for school along with making a weekly grocery list. Then, takes the kids to school and heads to work.
I conducted my observations at Lockport Middle School. Lockport Middle School is currently ranked an A school from the Louisiana Department of Education. Science lessons were observed in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade over the course of a two week period. All three classrooms displayed a positive climate.
U1 AC 2.1 - Explain ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. A number of ways to establish a safe and supportive learning environment is to stay within what is deemed as conventional rules and disciplines. A typical class room layout is rows of desks and chairs facing the front, it is the usual expected layout for learners and encourages them to accept conformity, something as simple as sitting on the chairs facing the front of the classroom is reassuring to the majority that the class is safe. In days of yesteryear the students would be expected to stand up when the teacher entered the room and wait for permission to be seated, thankfully those days are in the distant past and now it is acceptable to remain talking until the teacher is ready to begin class.
The first observation was conducted on August 30th at 9:00 a.m., while the student was participating in the special education resource room. The observation took place for a total of 25 minutes. For the duration of the observation the student was seated at a small table working one-on-one with the special education teacher. Along with the student being observed and the special education teacher, two other students, as well as, two paraprofessionals were in the special education resource room during the observation time. One student and paraprofessional were working one-on-one at a small table, while the other student was sitting in a bean bag chair reading a book.
The classroom that I will be observing is a Preschool classroom at KinderCare Learning Center in Bartlett, Illinois. The teacher I will be observing over the next period of time is Laura Sturgulewski. She has worked at KinderCare for 8 years, mostly in the 2 year-old room until fall of 2013, when she took the lead teaching position of the Preschool classroom. Her classroom mainly has 3 year-olds, but on occasion has a mix of 4 year-olds and transitioning 2 year-olds. The number of students in her class depends on the day, because they are a child care center some students have a part time schedule, unlike an elementary school where children attend every day.
OVERVIEW The elementary school that I observed at, Orchard View Elementary, was located in Delray Beach, FL. The location was very accessible and right off of the highway. The teacher I got assigned to was Ms. Diann Johnson. She teaches a class for students in 3rd-5th grade.
Classroom Observations Mrs. Canada is the first grade teacher that I observed, and the subject that she was teaching was reading. She had planned well-organized power points and crafting materials in advance, so she was prepared for the lesson. The two times I observed, the lesson that was being taught at both times was reading. Children in the classroom used a lot of previous knowledge for the lesson.
C. Analysis In this chapter, I will make critical analysis on the results of the classroom observation with my opinion. 1. Teacher’s Classroom Management a.
