In order to properly discuss the dangers of web shops, we should first answer three simple questions: What is gambling as a whole. Gambling is generally defined as the voluntary risking of a sum of money called a stake, wager, or bet, on the hopes of winning money. What is web shop gaming? According to Wikipedia, the illegal gambling establishments are known as "web shops" they allow the Bahamian people to make bets on American lottery numbers. Gambling is currently legal for Bahamian citizens. Why is gambling or buying numbers a problem? Today in the Bahamas web shop gaming is seen as something normal and not harmful even though it is. Buying numbers in the Bahamas can cause many problems such as strong feelings. Family members may feel hurt, confused or neglected. These feelings towards the person buying the numbers will make the situation harder to fix. Michelle Tee states that, “Addictive gambling can disrupt the gamblers' family life in many ways. The gambler is out gambling while his family members are left at home and neglected. The family members wonder where their husband, wife, parent, or child is because they never seem to be around anymore. This results in divorce much of the time and a true breakdown of the family unit” (Michelle.S.Tee) . For example, gamblers spend less time with their families this is due to the fact that they invest all their time at web shops; therefore, each member of the family suffers differently. The spouse can end up feeling like the next one is cheating and if children are involved they may think that their parents do not love them anymore. They acquire this money from their loved ones in the hopes that they can win back their losses. For example, while my aunt is fast asleep, my uncle spends hours in front of island luck; authorizing automatic withdraws from his bank account to buy numbers. They are behind on their rent; their landlord is threatening to kick them out. Thus, my annoyed aunt finds that his gambling losses are the cause that adds up to hundreds of dollars a month. He tells my aunt all the time that he does not know where all their money is going. Their investments are diminished because my uncle seeks more and more resources to gamble
