Tioman Island is one of the most popular islands in Malaysia; the island is very popular among the tourists who come to Malaysia. Tioman Island is located 32 kilometers (20 miles) off the east coast of the state, and is some 20 kilometers (12 miles) long and 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) wide, it has eight main villages, the largest and most populous being Kampung Tekek in the north. The densely forested island is sparsely inhabited, and is surrounded by numerous coral reefs, making it a popular scuba diving spot. There are also a lot of resorts and chalets around the island which has duty-free status. Tioman 's corals have been affected by a mass bleaching event in 2010 whereby the island lost a significant portion of its live coral cover. That resulted in a lot of the corals turning a dull white color and some even fragmenting into pieces of dead coral skeleton. The 2016 bleaching event only just touched on Tioman 's Coral Reefs, and as such, the coral has remained in good and healthy condition.
Tioman Island was the first discovered by Chinese and Arabs seafarers and traders around thousand years ago.
Best ways to go to the island: From Kuala Lumpur: As Mersing is the gateway to reach Tioman Island; you have to first go to Mersing Jetty or Tanjung Gemok Jetty from Kuala Lumpur. From any of these jetties, you can take a ferry service to Tioman Island. Ferry service is the only option to reach Tioman from Mersing or Tanjung Gemok. The most common options to reach both jetties
Underwater at 8:18am, it is very foggy this morning, we cannot see Isla Tiburon from the North boat ramp to give you a sense. Calm waters, light blue skies, low tides, left wave crash, fog looks as if it 's heading west toward Isla Tiburon. Took off at 8:23am, towards the southwest side of Isla Tiburon. We saw common mergansers in groups of 50 or so at 8:29am in the fog. We are now in the middle of the sea and cannot see Isla Tiburon or Kino behind us at 8:45am.

The setting on the island in “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell is essential to the plot. For instance, the island is necessary to the plot because if it is not an island then it would change the story completely. General Zaroff is smart enough to find a secret island to chase and catch his prey. Once they get on the island, they are trapped. Rainsford knew that once General Zaroff is out to get him “ He was in a picture with a frame of water, and his only operations, clearly must take place within that frame” (11).
