When two people are angry and hurt each other, it is called a fight. When two countries are angry and try to hurt each other, it is called war. War was fought when two countries are not ready to solve out their problems by talking together. Wars are often waged because one country wants some source or all of the land that another country has. If it wants the land badly enough, it will fight to try to win it. Sometimes when other countries see this problem, they might get into the war to protect the country that wants to safe its land. This is how countries are involved in protecting each other. The impacts of these conflicts are most often measured in terms of the strategic and economic losses. But the disadvantaged, which fight the most; the women, children and the aged people, who suffer and sacrifice the most, are often not recognized nor considered. My thesis examines the untold effect of the highest form of deprivation, suffering, agony and despair of the weak in the civil war, the vulnerable, the women and children in civil war. Conflict the world over cause the destruction of social, political and economic structures of the society. The srilankan and somalian Civil War, though they fought between the Federal troops stood out as one of the most brutal civil wars in Asia in the second half of the twentieth century mainly due to the extent of its impact which was felt more by the ordinary civilian population and in particular the most vulnerable. The most significant aspect of this war was that the level of the impact would have been reduced by the belligerents as well as the international humanitarians. This results as hunger, starvation, deprivation and human rights abuses especially of the vulnerable group of the population were unique in the history of the country.
