Do Grades Do Well In School

Everyone has gone through the pressure of bad grades and everyone can remember from their teenage years the hardships of getting good grades but are grades really something that should even be in the school system? Why are grades given in schools but can cause depression and even suicidal thoughts?

People have already dropped out of school and are doing amazing. Some people even struggled in school but are very rich and powerful. At 16 Richard Branson founded Student Magazine, a small newspaper company that was for kids at his school (Later it would become Virgin Records). Richard Branson struggled a lot in school and barely graduated. Today Richard Branson has a net worth of five billion dollars. Steve Jobs went into Reed College in 1972 after graduating high school. He later dropped out and later founded Apple. Apple now has 285.1 billion USD. Both Richard Branson and Steve Jobs dropped out of school and created billion dollar companies and there are others who, as well didn’t, receive college diplomas and are doing great. Is it still possible to achieve great things and not do well in school?

In some cases people have intentionally harmed themselves as a break from the stress and pressure of school and grades. One student named Faith- Ann first started cutting herself in 8th grade. She said it was her only coping mechanism and she didn’t want to stop cutting herself. It was the only relief she felt she got from the anxiety of grades and her future. Lots of days she felt very sick before school and would sometimes throw up. She always hid the sadness she had and the sadness she didn’t feel justified to have. The sad thing is that she had a good life. She had parents who loved and supported her is she asked for help. This teenager is like many other teenagers who deal with depression and anxiety from grades and school and the only escape they have is through self
