Breathing Breathing is another factor in meditating. Breathing is one of the most important functions of our lives, and yet many of us breathe incorrectly. The oxygen we breathe while going about our daily business is critical to our health and the course our health will take. Insufficient oxygen daily will diminish our ability to think clearly, and will only exacerbate our stresses and anxieties, not to mention our well-being. Not everyone knows how to breath properly, breathing with our diaphragms, (our tummy muscles, pay attention to small babies!) rather than with our intercostals (ribs and muscles) which only moves our shoulders and upper chest, is said to be the best way to breath.
