How Police Body Cameras are Effective
Police body cameras are an excellent tool to use. Police body cameras show the truth and evidence about what actually happened in the story. If video evidence is shown in a courtroom, it could possibly save anyone from getting sentenced to jail. With police body cameras being issued, they improve the safety of police officers and citizens. With more police body cameras, people can rely on them more than the police officer or the citizen. They keep people safe because it keeps the suspect from lying about the situation and could make people do what the police officer is telling them they have to do. They show proof when the citizen or police officer shows acts of violence. The footage is a solid way of showing evidence and truth as it is needed. For example, to prove when the citizen or police officer does or shows any violence. In the passage, Bridget M. Synan says, “By wearing a camera, the officer can show his or her view of the incident.” Bridget M. Synan displays how police officers can show viewpoints that citizens can not deliver or prove. Bridget M. Synan also wrote that because, without editing, the footage will not change. This statement is good evidence because sometimes the citizen is wrong, so the body cameras can prove what happened in the story. The accused could lie about the police officer being in the wrong or vice-versa. In reality, though, the accused could’ve been in the wrong, so the video evidence will show that. Police body cameras are able to record and see more because of the lenses or even night vision. The lenses are capable of seeing more of what goes on in the situation. They can take photos or even start recording before the police officer presses the record button, getting more information than the police officer thought it would.
