Second trimester abortion is done within the period of week 13 to week 28 of the gestation. There is very little literature on Second Trimester Abortion in Indian context. India is known for the second highest abortion in the world but without any backup with data. According to the MTP Act 1971, when the pregnancy is less than or equal to 12th weeks, one medical practitioner can perform abortion but if the pregnancy exceeds 12th months and does not exceed the 20th week, not less than two practitioners should perform the process of abortion. There are various reasons why large numbers of women are going for second trimester abortion such as:
• They did not realize they were pregnant earlier. (Women may skip their period for many non-pregnancy-related

A major gap in abortion policy in India is the lack of guidelines on good clinical practices and researches. National technical guidelines (2001) do not confirm with WHO's International guidelines and fail to ensure good clinical practices even at approved abortion centres. There are very low percentages of women in India who can easily access the health care facilities which include safe abortion facilities also. India's abortion policies and laws are very progressive and effectively translated into improved access to safe abortion care is often impeded by misguided and unnecessary practices. But still there are various barriers which stops women to access the safe abortion facilities. The most experienced barrier is the institution i.e., marriage. If a woman is single, then she has to face various problems in accessing her right to safe abortion. Other barriers such as funds, pressure from family, refusal by doctors, hesitation to approach, unaware of safe abortion centres etc. Despite of the report by Shah Committee in 1966 which states that "When the woman, (with or without the concurrence of her partner) feels that a particular pregnancy is intolerable and does not desire to bear the child.... [She] should be the master of her own body and decide the question of motherhood for herself”, women are not allowed to take the decision of abortion by her own. Her husband’s or parent’s approval is most needed thing for her decision. Even the practitioners also demand for the approval of woman’s husband or her parent’s. Despite of these, infrastructure also plays an important role in creating barriers for women’s access to safe abortion. If there is no appropriate and hygienic infrastructure, then women will approach to any doctor whether trained or not and adopt unsafe abortion which
Caitlynn Thomas Mrs. Simmons English 3 H 14 December 2015 Rough Draft Late-Term Abortion is Not Wrong or Unethical (too informal?) Late-term abortion has been a topic debated over generations and is still seen as a vital issue today. A majority of the population views late-term abortion as morally and legally wrong, which is mostly due to the manipulation of the government and media. The Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act signed by George Bush places the lives and health of women and fetuses in danger, as well as puts doctors at risk for providing safe care (Feldt). As this ban still stands, people listen to the majority of society rather than their personal thoughts on the topic.
An abortion is when a pregnancy is deliberately terminated and the fetus or embryo is removed so the mother no longer has to carry through with the pregnancy. People may choose to undergo an abortion because they are unable to support the child and it may cause them harm if they were to carry through with it. Abortion is an ethical issue because people have conflicting opinions and beliefs on the issue. There is no right or wrong answer, everyone is entitled to their own view on the issue. Abortion is illegal in New Zealand under the 1961 crime act but if two certified doctors agree that continuing with the pregnancy will have a negative effect and harm the mother 's mental and emotional health then the abortion is classed as legal and is allowed
Women who are victims of rape will always be in remembrance of their terrifying experience, which sometimes result in neglect and unfair treatment of the child due to the woman’s rape trauma syndrome. Women who are not financially stable that are pregnant and oppose abortion live in poverty. If abortions were banned it would increase illegal abortions which have critical effect to the woman’s health. Statistics estimate that the risk of death from an abortion is 0.6 in 100,000. The risk of death childbirth is 14 times higher, 8.8 in 100,000.
There are huge tensions around abortion although some countries like South African have very liberal laws around it. As a result unsafe abortions happen so
I. I believe in the inviolability of human life II. I am absolutely disagree the elective abortion for personal or social convenience. A. All of us should not submit to, perform, encourage, pay for, or arrange such abortions. III. The word abortion by definition means the ending of pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo before it can survive outside the uterus.
In contras, each year in Indonesia, millions of women become pregnant unintentionally, and many choose to end their pregnancies, despite the fact that abortion is generally illegal. Abortion due to unwanted pregnancy is considered the best solution. Whereas it is the same as solving the problem with a new problem. Like many pregnant women by “accident” in many developing countries where abortion is stigmatized and highly restricted, Indonesian women often seek abortion with harm procedures performed by untrained providers (for example; dukun). Some women already know the negative impact of having an abortion but most women tend to ignore it.
Abortion is one of the most controversial topics of all times. There are two types of abortion, Spontaneous which takes place naturally and induced which this essay will mainly present. Induced abortion is defined by the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. I believe that abortion should be legalised and accepted in all countries for different reasons such as; it 's cruel for raped women to go through with pregnancy, The mother has the right to choose for herself as it is her body not anyone else’s, a young girl is not ready for the responsibilities of womanhood and finally the health of the woman is more important.

Thesis Statement: Abortion has been a major topic throughout the years, there has been much debate between pro-choice and pro-life but if people can come together to reach comprises it could help society make positive progress. There are many different views and opinions on abortion in today’s world. Some would say that abortion is wrong and others would say it is right; and some would say it is wrong or right depending on the circumstances. This is when complications surface and people began to look at all aspects of the situation. Abortion has always been a controversial social issue but not as potent as the year 2016 and 2017.
The procedure of an abortion does more good for the mother and family than it prevents a life from occurring. The mother’s body should be respected, as it always should be. The mother’s life should always be put in priority. When rape is placed into the world of possibility behind pregnancy then a woman should always be helped during a traumatic event such as a rape. Even the idea of monetary struggles of families should be observed.
Abortion has been a controversial issue in our society. The options are which path to take in life. The two paths we have to take or to choose from are give the child a chance to live or to be a teenage parent or having an abortion. In the young age of a pregnant women will be the hardest part of her life and when she doesn’t think that she can deal with the fact that she will having a child in young age the only way that she will take would be to get an abortion. The fetus will be decide to abort by their mother resulting in or caused by its death.
Abortion and childbirth complications have been the leading causes of maternal deaths the world over. With the advent of the 21st century, maternal deaths have declined. This has been attributed to education on family planning as well as the use of contraceptives. Abortion is caused by a myriad of factors among them
In 2013 the CDC reported 664,435 legal abortions occurred, 91.6% of abortions were in the first trimester, while the rest were after this period (late-term abortion). That means that around 53,000 abortions
For example, finds out whether continuing or terminating a pregnancy cause greater physical or psychological harms and risks to the mother. On the other hand, Bonevski & Adams (2001) further added that abortion may expose the mother to grief and regret. As such, it is important to gain mother’s consent before making the decision. Apart from that, in resolving slightly similar case study of 18 years old student was referred in view of her request for termination of pregnancy. She was gang-raped and found out she is pregnant.
However, there ismore and more of that iceberg hidden below the surface of the water. In the Health Master Plan 2007-2016, Ministryof Healthcare & Nutrition of Sri Lanka has identified deaths due to haemorrhage and indirect causes following septic abortions as a significant challenge in the reduction of maternal mortality and morbidity ratio . The Sri Lankan Law on abortion is based on the provisions in the Penal Code, which was
