Introduction

The trend in the past few years has been about fashion blogging and entering the fashion industry. With the entrance and boom of social media and social networking, it has become easy to access fashion designers’ social media accounts simply by following and scrolling through the interface. Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and much more offer that service for free thus allowing everyone of all ages to follow out of simply, ‘interest’. Nguyen states that ‘a decade ago, the term "fashion blogger" was virtually nonexistent. However, with the rising popularity of social media and increasing dependence on online technology, a new world of fashion blogging has entered the runway’ (Nguyen, 2012)

External Business Environment
The external environment of a fashion blog start-up would be the factors that are outside of the blog itself that may affect the ability of the blog to function. These can be manipulated by the marketing of the blog. With this, a STEEP analysis can be done to examine the business idea.

STEEP - Social
Factors such as customers, the economy, the public opinion and the competitor are just a few to name. For example when it comes to customers, they are the number one that a fashion blogger would need to influence through the marketing and strategic release of corporate information. However, what really matters is how the blogger intends to build and strengthen that relationship with the customers in order to keep them coming back. Through market research, the blogger can determine the effectiveness of the messages that are marketed to the public and with those messages, he or she can decide on what changes need to be made in the future in order to increase the number of …show more content…

Anything scandalous can hurt the image of the organization, which in turn can affect sales. Of course, the public perception of the blog can lead to positive or negative sales. However, what one sometimes forgets, is the impact his or her business can make on the environment. The blog can, through marketing and advertising, can influence public opinion. A blogger may wish to wear a certain brand and advertise that on the blog, which would lead readers to go to stores and purchase that product.
