In this part, the first thing will be introduce is background about the hotel industry and especially in the Chinese market. After that the aim of this thesis will present base on this background. At last, the overview of the entire thesis will present a very clear way. 1.1 Background of study Recently, employee turnover has become a common phenomenon in modern society, and this kind of behavior might lead to bad influence on employees and employers. For the employees, they might lose a previous work opportunity and start to work at very beginning in other companies. For the company, it might have many negative consequences and most of them in terms of direct and indirect costs, such as business slowing. There are more and more local hotels in China, therefore nowadays, the market is more competitive than ever, in this circumstance, to increase the abilities of the employee and service quality is very important for hotel managers (Abbasi & Hollman, 2000). Recently, the number of tourists (domestic travel) from 78.4 thousands jumps to 210 million, 10.4% average increase. In the next five years, the vacant rooms in China will reach 5 million. In the current Chinese hospitality market, there are 1.7 thousands hotels building and over 70% of international hotels have already built in China. These international hotels regard China as a vast market needs to explore in further (Chon et. al., 2013). In other words, compared with the same level of hotels, whether service quality reaches the customer’s expectation can make a critical contribution to the competition, as well as employees’ job satisfaction. In the second section, the author critical review relevant literature will be introduced in the hospitality industry, showing different explanations or results from previous researchers, through some theories, models, concepts and methodologies, such as some relevance to job satisfaction organizational commitment and turnover intention. In the third section it will clear and coherent statement of issue for investigation, clear statement of the rationale for the choice, analysis the problems statements, highlighting the importance of this topic, and then build a framework where can explain the relationship among those variables. In the fourth section, it presents overall research strategy and the reasons why these methods were selected. In the fifth section, the author will use SPSS system to clear exposition of the data produced by the methods, address the original issues for investigation and critical reflection of the findings and its limitations. In the sixth section, based on the data analysis, it shows the clear distinctions between fact and interpretation and then balances statement and interpretation, combine the real result and the original one together. In the seventh section, it summarized of the main points of the research, return to the original objectives, questions and hypotheses
