Compare the journeys of discovery in The Running Man and The Chrysalids. The Running Man written by Michael Gerard Bauer and The Chrysalids written by John Wyndham both have strong meanings to them and both are very similar to each other in many ways, for an example their fears their both afraid of something but overcome it. They also discover many things throughout the whole book, like when David discovered he had powers or when Joseph discovered his neighbor is actually not a bad man. One thing that David discovers is he had telepathic powers.
Doing what is right vs. wrong often causes struggles within other people. Marie little soldier was David's biggest crush until she was found dead in her bedroom. Marie was an Indian women who lived on the reservation before David met her. She was asked to be housekeeper for David's home and also babysit David.
At this time David’s father is dead by the hands of Steel Heart, he was not trying to shoot Steel Heart but the bullet grazed his cheek and it started bleeding. That made Steel Heart really mad and he killed his father and everyone in the bank that day. Expect David and he wants payback. He wants to see him bleed again, but not only that, but he wants him dead, just like how SteelHeart killed his father. “I’ve seen Steelheart bleed.
Despite this, David must conceal his talents in order to avoid being persecuted. He is constantly on guard because he fears being found out and being shunned by his community. David is pitted against his family and friends because of this prejudice, which makes him doubt the morals of his culture and the genuine character of people. This leads to the view that David now has that the people around him are no longer people he can rely on but instead people he must hide
On the other hand, while David is spying on the Tomkeys, he thinks, “Because they had no TV, the Tomkeys were forced to talk during dinner. They had no idea how puny their lives were, and so they were not ashamed that a camera would have found them uninteresting” (Sedaris 720). He is also setting a suspicious mood on what he is going to do next. His choices are to tell the Tomkeys that their lives were puny and insignificant or he can tell them nothing and be their friend. He is also a suspicious character because reader are unknowing of his plans.

This allows David to come to the realization that he is being consumed by the darkness and grief in his heart, and leaves him in ambivalence on if he should take revenge on Steelheart for something he did years prior, over the cost of thousands of innocent civilian lives. David succumbs to the pressure and follows the path of revenge as he comes to believe that revenge against Steelheart is his purpose in life, resulting in him and the Reckoners attempting to kill Steelheart.

David was a journalist and the people at the fair really didn’t treat David right. They treated him as if he wasn’t important. David’s reaction to this was to act rudely to others but David knew that it wasn’t intentional toward him and that he needed to realize that.
David did not merely serve his own generation; he did so by the will of God. This means he demonstrated the characters of God as expressed in Ps 145:8-9. Ps 145:8-9 8 The Lord is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. 9
This shows the change David has made with his views and choices. In the beginning of the book, David wished for extra arms as a harmless joke only to realize that making that joke costed him and got beat by his father. David then kept quiet as he didn’t want to express his own feelings due to trauma he has suffered. By the end of the book, David runs away with his friends in protest to his father’s rules and to express who he truly is. From the beginning of the book to the end, David has shown examples of him changing who he is as a person for the better.
One of the most common desires in this world is the desire for power. Since I was children, I have learnt from fairy tales that kings were always respected and enjoyed many wonderful things. When I was older, facing countless problems and difficulties, my childhood dream was evoked: “Were I the king, I would…” To some people, this desire was not merely a childhood dream, but actually an unquenchable ambition, for which they can do evil.
They are ever-changing and resistant to this static identity that David is searching for. In describing women as both “bottomless” and “shallow” it becomes clear that there is no certainty in women. David uses women to further repress his sexuality but, Giovanni, is saying that this is impossible to do as women are too much to be as steady as David desires them to be. Giovanni’s argument further calls upon David to accept his sexuality, as women are as uncertain as men, and therefore just as “safe” as a sexual partner for David. Even less so considering they are not the companion he desires.
David does not fully grasp how Sharon feels about him when they were young and in love, as he continually feels the desire to prove to her and himself that he is a hero or astonishing man. The fact that David did not want to save the cat in the first place, yet he did it to preserve Sharon 's feelings for him is very ironic. While wanting to look like a noble man in Sharon 's eyes, even though she already viewed him in that way, David wound up negatively changing how Sharon perceived his character and integrity. Insecurities in himself and in his relationship become evident when he seems to care so deeply about what the cat strangers think about him. “I wanted to briefly be adored by strangers, to be remembered as a handsome and kind man, a better man, more complete, even saintly”.
Most of people don’t know much about prophets because they lost interest in learning more about prophets' stories. Prophets stories are very important for the people in their daily life because every person might benefit from those stories in his life. The purpose of prophet’s message is the statement of the proper way to Allah. Allah said: "Indeed, in their stories is a lesson for those of understanding" [Yosuf: 111] this is a proof that people should take lessons from people who were before them and learn from them and use them in their theoretical and practical life. One of the prophets who people does not know much about him is David, peace be upon him.
