King’s Day – A Peek into the World’s Largest Street Party For more than Fifty years, the last day of April was known as Queen’s day. At the end of January 2013, the longest reigning Dutch monarch, Queen Beatrix announced her renunciation after 33 years of her throne. Your Majesty said that from now, the whole Netherlands would celebrate King’s day on April 27 as it is a birthday of his oldest son and the new king of Netherlands. The last queen’s day was celebrated on April 30, 2013. Birthday celebration is the biggest street party of the year and there's no better place to celebrate than the Dutch capital. It’s estimated that Amsterdam's population on King's Day is twice that of any other day.
