According to (US Department of Education, 2011) technology ushers in fundamental structural changes that can be integral to achieving significant improvements in productivity and is used to support both teaching and learning. The article further goes on to say that Technology infuses classrooms with digital learning tools such as computers and handheld devices which expands course offerings, experiences, learning materials and supports learning 24 hours a day, which increases student engagement and motivation, and accelerates learning.
The article further goes on to discuss the introduction of virtual or online learning, which is the use of Technology by both students and teachers to create a virtual or online classroom, rather than a traditional face to face setting. This is done using various technological hardware tools such as computers, tablets or other handheld devices as well as speakers and microphones. This combination of hardware is used to create a classroom setting where students and teachers can communicate with each other from any location that has a network connection available. The advent of Technology has even allowed for many secondary and tertiary institutions to provide many courses, degree or masters programs online in a virtual setting as opposed to the traditional classroom face to face setting. Some secondary schools, such as the Guided Online Academic Learning Academy (GOALA), an online public charter high school in Colorado for
The Benefits of Technology in School in a Technological Society The Tennessean published Lisa Fingeroot’s article, “Nashville schools push for more technology,” in November of 2012. The first thing a reader notices to an article is the title.
In the article "Virtual Students, Digital Classroom,” by Neil Postman he presents his thoughts about technology in class. Postman comes to the conclusion that high-technology in the classroom won’t solve any of the schools’ issues and will also take over his and other teachers teaching jobs. Computers in the classroom will not help children learn any more than they already know in school, if teachers were replaced computers, students will lose the face to face interaction that can only be with another human, and teachers go to school to learn to teach a specific subject and how to teach that subject to the students. Postman portrays himself to be an intelligence, descriptive and opinionated man. Postman knows a lot when it comes to the subject of technology use in classrooms and he proves it in his in his words.
Also, the educators must be trained to use it. Lastly, the use of internet in education, in other words free online learning. There are sites such as Coursera, Udemy, and Khan Academy that offer free high quality online education to any person living anywhere. However, an internet conenction and a computer is still required to use those sites. Some of these sites offer lectures about Science, Technology, Electronics, and Math (STEM) to all students.
As the World progresses, technology has always been a part of it, if not ahead. I for one, have grown up in a time where the use of technology has been intertwined in the society. Since technological advancements began a while ago, the newer generation of children has access to it with ease than those who came before them. This then does arise some concerns about the effect of technology on younger generations. Just like with other controversial topics, there are some negative sides to technology as well as positive sides.

Moreover, survey result from Pew research center in 2011 shows that around 23% of college graduates attend the online class and about 15% of those completely acquired the degree from online education. Body Argument 1: Lower total cost Opposing Argument: Since online education utilizes the latest and modernized technology devices,
When new technologies are integrated into the classroom both teachers and students need to become accustomed to it before they can fully reap the benefits. Because of this, "teachers' first technology projects generate excitement but often little content learning. Often it takes a few years until teachers can use technology effectively in core subject areas (Goldman, Cole, & Syer, 1999). " Educators are taking a risk by placing computers in the classroom.
Integrating technology in education can be extremely beneficial. It can be a useful method for the students and their teachers, which improves both their skills. In addition, being active on the Internet when learning can make students and teachers’ academic journey easier. There is a lot of evidence that proves how useful technology is for both students and their instructors. This paper attempts to show that using the Internet allows
( FINAL ESSAY JUST PARAPHRASE ) It goes without saying that technology will improve the learning path, makes education simpler and more enthusiastic. Imagine a world today where people didn’t have the technologies. If there were no technologies today, humans wouldn’t have phones, computers, tablets, Instagram, Twitter, or Snapchat. Technology is now a big part of people’s society and predictable future. Electronic devices like cars, phones, tablets, and computers have all been created over time to make peoples live helpful and easier. The benefits of technology are that people can talk to their friends and relatives who are living far from them, they can learn new things and online courses, and they’re able to reach distant places within hours which took years of time to reach in olden days.
Advantages of Online Education It’s not difficult to see why online learning has become so popular when you consider the many reasons why people choose to take an online course instead of more traditional methods of study. Some of the advantages are listed below. Greater choice One of the major advantages of online learning is that students aren’t required to travel to an institution, and can learn from their home at the click of a button.
In the classroom, technology can encompass all kinds of tools from low-tech pencil, paper, and chalkboard, to the use of presentation software, or high-tech tablets, online collaboration and conferencing tools, and more. The newest technologies allow us to try things in physical and virtual classrooms that were not possible before. Today, I cannot imagine how difficult it is to teach without technology and how hard it is to learn without it. Technology plays a major part in our lives as students.
Looking up from my reading my history book I realize something I have become so accustomed to: the amount of technology being used in the classroom. Everyone is on their school issued iPads. Some appear to be glued to the screen like they’re watching something, and others look like madmen with their fingers flying across the keyboard, trying to keep up with the lecture. The lecture is on a laptop which is connected to a projector, putting it up on a Smartboard. Long gone are the days of blackboards and chalk.
Digital learning has various effects on the academic performance of the students and this digital learning can help the students to improve their performance in the classroom. Digital learning really makes the students work easier. Because of this, the students may have an advanced knowledge by easily searching their lesson using this technology. With this digital technology, it gives more information to the students to gain more knowledge about their school works. There are lots of technology that were integrated into the classroom that help the students learn with comfort, and that allows the student to gain and recall more information.
students are turning toward online education as a way of getting a high school diploma or college degree. Students no longer need to sit in a classroom all day — restricted to one space, and expected to learn within a limited school day. With the progress in technology, education has expanded to the point where all that students have to do is to turn on their computer at any time of day, and start learning. There are three main reasons beyond the decision of choosing online schooling :flexibility, choice and pacing.
