The Listening module of the PTE Academic tests the ability of the test takers to understand spoken English in an academic environment. Various listening skills are tested in PTE Academic, which includes- identifying the main idea and summarizing it, identifying supporting points, words or phrases relevant to the context, identifying speaker’s style, purpose or attitude and predicting how the speaker may continue.

Strategies for PTE Listening
Read Instructions carefully: - Instructions for each question type are displayed on the computer screen. Read the instructions given on the computer screen carefully before you start attempting the test.
Concentrate on the content of the lecture: - While listening to the recording, pay attention to the content of the lecture. Concentration is important because you understand what you listen. You cannot produce a right response unless you get it right.
Take notes: - You can use erasable notepad to take notes during the listening session. Do not take notes word-to-word because you may miss important information this way. Rather, just note down the important keywords or phrases that support the main idea of the content.
Listen completely: - You may have an urge to go to the questions straightway by thinking you have already heard the information. Do not do this and listen to the recording till the end. If you already know what the lecture is about, you can revise what is said or add supplementary
