For my week 2 24-hour recall I interviewed my husband E.S. During a conversation held with E. Salcedo (E. Salcedo, oral communication, September 2015) I was able to gather that he is a 42-year-old male Mexican American. He currently is working with machinery and doing maintenance work at different power plants. Furthermore, E.S. job requires heavy lifting and going up and down stairs. He recently started running and exercising three times a week.
We did everything, from the front door to the back door. I worked 70-80-hour work weeks for almost three weeks, to get the store ready for the season and for a regional visit. Well, when my boss came in she was amazed at the progress. My Regional Manager came in a few hours later and had nothing positive to say. She pointed out everything that needed to be fixed and never took into account the progress we made.
To live, study and work with students like me from all across Arkansas, would not only be an honor but an extraordinary and challenging experience for my mental capabilities. Attending ASMSA would be a great opportunity to thoroughly express my hard work ethic and dedication. With my persistence, I could accomplish anything and everything. I believe that by attending ASMSA, I would better help prepare myself for my future and make extraordinary achievements. My grandfather was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in early 2005. Visiting him every few years, I could see his recognition abilities deteriorating as the disease progressed. Eventually, he reached the point where he nearly forgot everyone except the one person he had spent the most time with; his wife. At the time of his death in 2013, he was in the advanced stage of Alzheimer’s. My experience with my grandfather and realizing that although many people have to go through this, there is not much awareness of these diseases, inspired me to choose dementia as my topic of interest.

I interviewed a Nurse Practitioner (NP) at a Rediclinic in Pennsylvania. It was a very friendly and professional environment. At the Rediclinic a medical assistance works as receptionist. NP has a private room for practice. It was packed, a guy was waiting for driver license physical examination, a young girl was waiting for a flu shot, and a lot more.
How has the clinical experience changed you as a person? I think the clinical experience has had a positive impact on my life. I feel I have slowly discovered how much I enjoy working in a hospital setting. I figured I would enjoy taking x-rays, but you never truly know until you are actually in the environment. In a way I have become more caring as a person, especially when you see newborn babies struggling and fighting for their lives.
