First of all, I think it would be meaningful to explain a little about the remarkable points in my background. I was on the fifth year of elementary school when I curved a wooden propeller for my class. I was really interested in creating different things or fixing (and most of time damaging) electrical and mechanical home appliances. Therefore, I used to pass a large proportion of pastime in the small workshop located on the corner of our basement.
Entering NODET (National Organization for Developing Exceptional Talents) schools was another turning point in my life. Through school years in NODET high school, which selects approximately 1% of students in each major city of Iran for special education, I became profoundly interested in Physics, though I

I was awarded as the second best designer in that contest. During my education at Shiraz University, I took part in different research groups of the Mechanical Engineering Department. There, I gained lots of experiences, besides their technical benefits, such as independent research abilities, teamwork and efficient resource investigation. My first true introduction to mechanical engineering area came in “Dynamics of machinery” course offered by Dr. Sharifi together with various projects and assignments. The time limitation on each project taught me to plan well, work systematically and keep my reports up-to-date. In addition to designing different mechanical elements, I did an exciting teamwork project, “complete design and fabrication of a robot which simulates the movement mechanism of the spider”, to be delivered in only one week. Living in the workshop of the university, dividing task among four members, trying to have remarkable contribution to the project altogether with being awarded as the second best project among 25 opponents has made it a memorable event. Attending Dr. Emdad’s “Fluid mechanics” class, I became sure that Fluid mechanics would
These are some of the accomplishments I have did over my high school years. I am Maya Salone. Starting off my high school years by staying on track, making sure I will achieve my goals set ahead. As of so far I have achieved four/fifths of the goal. With A’s and B’s on my record throughout the year can be quite challenging.
From 2011-2015, I went to New Tech High @ Coppell. NTH@C was a project based learning school or PBL. During those four years, NTH@C helps turn my weaknesses into my strengths. I was taught how to interact with others while in groups and was graded on how well I understood problems, oral communication, using problem-solving skills, interpersonal skills, and more.
Initially, my entire high school career, I have worked exceedingly with every activity that I have done. In this case, maintaining a 3.6 GPA and ranking 14 out of 122 of my classmates has shown my commitment to my education. While attending school every day, I cultivate my academic skills to overachieve expectations. To
My most defining experiance and achievement took place between the months of April and October of 2015, this experiance was caddying at Nakoma Golf Club and my greatest achievement was recieving Rookie Caddy of the Year. Sunday March 1st was the day I called the Nakoma for the first time, I had just gotten out of open gyms for baseball and went on the phone. Around April 3rd I recived a call from Nakoma apolgizing for my unreturned calls and that caddy training would start the following Saturday. I showed up fourty five minutes earlier then the arrival time, this is when I would meet the other caddys and bag room emplloyes. The next five Sundays I went through the caddy training and at the end of that i was a certified caddy.
With this in mind, my greatest desire is to receive not only an outstanding technical education but also grow as a conscientious and socially responsible individual. In the next four years, I envision myself in an environment that fosters a genuine sense of family among motivated students. I want to belong to a school where I can develop in character as well as in my Catholic faith, even in the midst of rigorous academic work. I look forward to a career in applied sciences, with one foot in the laboratory and the other in the real world. I daydream about discovering creative avenues for positive change and inspiring others to innovate solutions for the complex challenges of our modern
In all of my Highschool career, I have developed numerous skills whether it be from being head of groups, able to speak in big crowds, and making sure that everyone understood their positions. Starting eighth grade, I had begun my journey by being a part of the Junior National Honor Society and becoming our classes representative, or as others say “Junior High valedictorian”. At this point in my life, I was able to realize that I demonstrated all the characteristics that a leader needed, and I was viewed to students and teachers as a mentor. After I had been promoted to High School, I was ambitious and challenged myself to be a part of Louder Than A Bomb poetry group. Freshman year was the Louder Than A Bombs first year at our High School which caused that year to be the group's building block.
The actual turning point in my high school career was joining the National Honor Society. At first, I did not think much of being involved in NHS, but as time went on, NHS taught me the
During my high school career, I see the step that I have taken has gotten me closer to my dreams and to my goals for the future by taking every chance I can get to maintain my GPA and continuously get better grades. Also, I try to take the some advanced classes at Lincoln Land Community college and high school such as: AP European History, Sociology and Biology 101 which are a college course. In all my
Throughout my life, I strived to produce my greatest work possible and continue to do so today. I am in National Honor Society, I take Advanced placement, Honors, Advanced, and dual-enrollment courses at Penn State DuBois. I spent two summers volunteering at the local community theater kid’s summer workshop, and during the year I volunteer to usher, stage manage, and run lights at the theater. I began selling clothes on eBay at thirteen and by fifteen I created an online store through Etsy. I began working at the age of sixteen, and I currently work at T.J. Maxx.
Dreams That Can Be Accomplished African American history is filled with a plethora of contributions in the music, acting, and sport industries, but some young adults fail to recognize the African American contributions to the science field. For decades, minority women have been the most underrepresented individuals in science, engineering, and medicine. Being one of less than 100 African American women physicists in the United States, Dr. Hadiyah-Nicole Green has been an inspiration to me to pursue a degree in Chemistry. She once said, “It’s important to know that our brains are capable of more.” It is important for African American women to further their skills and know that they are a valuable part of the workplace and that their contributions to STEM is essential.
As I became older, the lenses in which I viewed the world became more open to the challenges that I would face as I strived to achieve my goals. Furthermore, I came to understand that hard work, dedication and having a desire to succeed in life was required to reach my fullest potential. As a look back at my upbringing I reflect on the decisions that I made, the obstacles I overcame, and the successes
I have overcome difficult challenges in my pursuit of education. I fell behind on my credits, which was the hardest situation to pull myself up from. I caught up and past my colleagues. I am more than ready to further expand my education beyond graduating high school. I am striving to make myself rise above the rest.
Since I was in my childhood I have high curiosity on how and why things work. I have this unsatisfied feeling until I know why and how it 's happening. My dad always told me the same about me. I still remember how I spend the whole day looking for what make the pedestal fan to swing and I opened up its cover to see the motor and gear rotating and for me it 's fascinating. He used to bring me along with him in his nearest four wheel drive park where he taught me many things about four wheel vehicles.
I believe that this makes me more innovative than others since i am able to combine my mind and hands together to be able to learn something a lot quicker than someone else would. This also helps me with my ability of using time very efficiently when i want to, i am able to learn something, demonstrate it and practice it over and over several times in the time that it takes someone to even understand the concept of it. I have demonstrated this over time by showing my organization & by getting good grades, while keeping myself active and busy everyday. 4. Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced.
Right from my childhood days, I was always eager to know how things work in surroundings. When I was given toys, I hardly played with them rather tried to dismantle it and try to know the mechanism running it. During school days, I have participated in many science exhibitions which further motivated me towards taking my knowledge and experience onto a higher and advanced level. With this desire and curiosity to understand machines and mechanisms, I chose to complete my graduation in Mechanical Engineering.
