Imagine a school that has multiple healthy school food options, that is worth standing in line for. I think that all schools should have a healthy school lunch. It's very important to have nutritious school lunches so that we can be healthy and have energy during the school day.
I think we should have better and healthier school menus. Our school menus are very high in cholesterol and saturated fat. They are also very low nutrient rich vegetables, fruits, whole grains, legumes and fiber. If you start eating badly, than it can lead you to poor eating habits. If you have bad eating habits, than it can lead to obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic diseases. For example, according to the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, “obesity in children and adolescents have tripled in the past 30 years. In 2007–2008 almost 17 percent of children and adolescents aged 2–19 years were obese.’’ Our school menu should also have healthier food options. I think that kids are getting bored of the meals at our school. This is why we should have better and healthier school menus. Our English …show more content…
One, it gives you energy for the day, and it is said to improve how you perform in school. SFgate says, “It is important to refuel children's glucose supplies with a healthy lunch. A healthy lunch can give children the energy they need to stay focused, pay attention in class, and learn the information presented to them in their classes after lunchtime.” Eating healthy when we are young, is very important when we are older as well. If we eat unhealthy habits when we are young, than we might have unhealthy habits when we are older. Eating unhealthy can also lead to diabetes and obesity. According to Colorado State University, kids who are overweight have higher risks of developing health problems, like diabetes, hypertension, and becoming obese adults. Healthy lunches with proper amounts can help create a healthy
Lastly, these healthy lunches can benefit from the school, because more people will buy them, and the kids will get more nutrients than those with a home made lunch. It has also been proven that kids who eat healthy usually stay out of trouble at school. These are just a few of the many reasons that schools should provide a healthy
If a school has unhealthy lunch, the kids might be happy for the time, but their life won’t be happy in the future when they grow up to be obese. All of this information proves that schools are a lot healthier now and they should keep it this way for many years to come. This healthy food also gives kids enough energy to get through the day. If they eat unhealthy lunches they won't have enough energy to make it through the day so they won't learn as much as they could if they eat healthy school lunches. In the end, schools are better off with healthy foods rather than unhealthy foods for many
In conclusion schools should not change the lunches because they don't have the power to tell students can or can't eat, they don't have the time and money, and finally because they are not allowed to put a limit on how much a student can eat due to the “No Kid Hungry
Another reason I feel it is smart to change school lunches is that we need healthier foods in our cafeterias. We have some healthy foods such as salads and fruits. Schools need to serve less of the junky foods like pizza and fried chicken, and burgers; and in turn should cook foods like fresh pastas, or even change the techniques of preparing foods like instead of frying, bake. Even changing the salads up would be a fantastic idea.
Wouldn't it be marvelous if schools had a food court? As excited as that sounds, almost all schools don't have food courts provided. Only the richest school districts provide students and staff an inside food court. However, lunch time is an important meal, and it should be spent the way students like. Whether it is a McDonalds hamburger, or a Panera bread salad special, the students should have the freedom to choose.
Every day students enjoy their lunches at school. They always enjoy eating their delicious meals where they have the option to chose what they want. If their lunch is changed then their options will be limited. Changing the lunch to be healthier will not be something that will be very great for our school. If the school lunch is changed then some of the students that are larger could not get the nutrition they need and hurt the ones that really need those extra calories.
Determining the healthiness of food being served to students during school lunches is a very important subject. Although eating healthy is important it should not be the only factor contributing to whether or not taking away students favorite school lunches is beneficial. I don't believe that it is a good idea to take away students favorite school lunches and replacing them with all healthy foods is a good idea because of these three reasons. One, the cost of the healthier food, two, the student environment and mood of the school, and three, the fairness to the students whose only meal is the lunch they receive at school.
By serving fruits and vegetables, it helps prevent health problems and promotes healthy eating habits. “Studies show most kids have grown to like the new, healthier options” (William Rice, 1). This sentence proved that kids can like the new healthier lunches standards. That also means that it not just healthy for children, it is effective . Healthy school lunches benefit education which is a great reason to agree with healthier school lunches
Overeating can cause many health issues such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, and many more. In some schools some principals superintendents have made a decision to opt out of the Healthy choice foods and make there own semi-healthy foods that kids like. To reduce waste and bring back students who have opted to pack a lunch or go off campus for fast food, his districts cafeterias have installed stir-fry stations with abundant vegetables so students can have meals made to order. and he’s added spice bars so kids can even the bland. ROUGH DRAFT For the past few years in the United States school lunches did not have healthy programs that could help kids with their nutritional balance, now in days the government create a new program that can help school to have a better nutrition. School lunch’s in the United States need to be healthier, they are critical for the wellbeing of the majority of people from 6 to 18, and also set the pattern for a healthy life style throughout adulthood. Not necessarily things to make you want to eat school lunch, but could possibly change your opinions on it. Schools cannot put more nutrients than required, therefore if they do they could get in trouble because it is a required law to be followed. “These federal rules say that a school lunch can 't provide more than 30% of a child 's daily requirement of fat or 10% of saturated fat. Further, the lunch must provide at least one-third of the child 's daily requirements of protein and vitamins." (Healthy Lunches) "Researchers have found that students are better able to concentrate during the afternoon if they have eaten a well-balanced lunch that provides sustainable energy (unlike quick fix snacks such as candy bars or soft drinks, which lead to a rapid rise and fall in blood sugar levels).
Yes we most definitely have healthier school lunches there would be no more bullying, active kids, and no obese kids. It would be amazing if the school lunches could be healthy. It would also be a life changing thing for all of the obese kids in the world. There are many kids in the world that are obese. We don’t need school lunches making them obese to.
