In this speech I hope to present a persuasive moral argument that abortion is akin to murder and should be avoided, even if the child is unplanned or unwanted or the women would be in danger by the consequences of abortion.

Abortion is one of the most controversial topics of all times. There are two types of abortion, Spontaneous which takes place naturally and induced which this essay will mainly present. Induced abortion is defined by the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. I believe that abortion should be legalised and accepted in all countries for different reasons such as; it 's cruel for raped women to go through with pregnancy, The mother has the right to choose for herself as it is her body not anyone else’s, a young girl is not ready for the responsibilities of womanhood and finally the health of the woman is more important.

Third reason why abortion is impermissible is because it punishes the innocent fetus. The fetus should not be killed just because his/her parents were irresponsible. The fetus did not take the decision that his/ her parents would have sex or use contraception methods that are not very effective. The fetus is totally innocent and should not be punished.

Abortion is just a technical way of saying the murder of a unborn and should be abolished.

The common belief among many people is that abortion is murder. I disagree. Abortion is not murder. Abortion cannot be considered murder, first, because it is the woman’s body in which the fetus resides. Secondly, abortion is not murder because there are reasons such as rape and possible birth defects that can contribute to the idea of having an abortion. Finally, a murder would have to involve a person outside of the womb in which the fetus is still inside.

Let’s say the government chose what you wear, what you eat, how and when you sleep, what career you pursue and who you marry. Wouldn’t you deem this strict? Unfair? Stupid even? Why then do we believe that we or the government should have a say in a woman’s choice of aborting a fetus? Why are we so against arranged marriages but so for a woman keeping a child she doesn’t want or can’t support?
