Management Information System also referred to as Information System (IS) is a computer based structure made up of a set of data and management techniques that allows managers to effectively and efficiently organise, evaluate and manage routine company operations in the different departments of an organization. There are both external consultants who are the systems analyst hired from outside of the organization and internal consultants who work with and within the organization. External consultants can be seen as an advantage as they do not know the history of the business and would provide a more objective and different point of view on the operations of the organization. It can also be a disadvantage as it would be costly to hire an external consultant as they might set the price high for their expertise. Like the name explains, an agent of change is a systems analyst consultant, whether they be internal or external consultants, who assist in the transformation of an organization by analysing the effectiveness, improvement and development of the organization. To fulfil this role systems analyst must interact with users and individuals at management level from the very start of the project as it would be difficult to make changes to the systems allowing the improvement of business operations and ensuring it is user friendly if the required information is not gathered.
