Many parents believe that their children should not be unprotected from explicit content. ProCon.org believes that, “Children should not be exposed to sex, violence, drug use, or other inappropriate topics in school or public libraries” (ProCon.org). Parents just want the best for their children, and ProCon.org is just trying to support them with their list of pros to banning books. This quote is just one of multiple reasons why they think books should be banned, but it is one that sticks out
Parents who don 't approve have tried to ban the books from the school because of the material inside them. Not only do people think inappropriate books should be read they believe some subjects are not need to be talked about. Overall, the big question is do certain books need to be removed from society. Indeed they do. If a book has content that is truly bothering people it should not be put in public libraries nor in school libraries. Not only that , parents have a risk of exposing their younger children to material that 's not age appropriate.
Is banning books the best idea? Banning books limits children’s reading interest, including religiously. The banning of textbooks with religion in them shows this, the fact that literature helps young people feel as if they are not alone in the world helps with reading interest, as does the fact that literature can help provide a neutral way to start a conversation. Parents shouldn’t be allowed to take away children’s availability to read a certain book just because they don’t want their kid reading a book. Reading creates a virtual reality for kids, and just because you may not like something does not give you the right to take it away from everyone.
Just because some people disagree with some books, does not mean others should not be allowed to enjoy them. Books should not be banned because it closes doors for information that mature people should be able to read. Another reason books should not be banned is that it deprives people of learning experiences that they may encounter soon. Books should not be banned also because some of the books are excellent for history, or learning experiences. Books should not be able to be banned because it closes the door for great lessons and deprives people of learning about the world around them.
They are wrong because they don’t have to use their cellphones to help them with their work, they can use books, dictionaries, etc for that. As a result that book or article is banned across the district, or in some cases the nation. Not only is this wrong but it limits freedom of reading what you want in the classroom” ( Grosvenor). It proves better because i said that students can use books to help they don’t need to use their cellphones. And in this it says that books are being banned and it is taking away students opportunities to read.
Be that as it may, there are multiple reasons why books should be taught and included in a curriculum. If you want a book not to be read by an adolescent, banning the book will often have an opposite effect. Although it contains sensitive topics and harsh language, The Secret Life of Bees should not be banned in high schools because
Restricted but not Forgotten Literature, old or modern, has always been subject to criticism and judgement due to the issues that exist within classic novels. Whether the issue contains profanity, violence, or content too mature for young readers, concerned parents and students continue to threaten to ban and forget award-winning books’ existences. Unfortunately for Ken Kesey’s classic, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, restricting the novel is potentially the only course of action. While the book displays violence unsuitable for high school curriculums, libraries must continue to include Ken Kesey’s classic novel. Although the novel teaches valuable life lessons about individuality and is mild compared to modern media, high school curriculums
Some people believe books should not be banned in schools and libraries because taking away the First Amendment right, by banning books is not right. First, the freedom of speech and press is taken away when books are banned. To begin, “When librarians and teachers reject works that may be ‘emotionally inappropriate’ for children, they’re adhering to the traditional and mostly prevailing view that children’s literature should avoid controversial topics,” (Ringel). Keeping children from using their voice can make them not want to open up. Expression is used when choosing from books, you choose a book which makes you feel interested.
Many people still believed that sex education should be compulsory in primary schools because a research has shown that parents in America do not like to discuss with their kids about sex (Strasburger 1993). Supporting detail (a): Many parents naturally feel embarrassed to talk to their children about topic that is related to sex (Winter 2014). Some of them are afraid that they might give wrong advice or respond to their kids which may lead them to wrong choice. So it is better if the teachers in the schools take this responsibility to influence the children a better sex education. Supporting detail (b): As for the children, they are afraid or uncomfortable to ask their parents anything about sex (Talking to your parents 2014).
So there 's no point of keeping teenage curfew laws. Also, according to their research, when teenage curfews are set as laws, it puts parents under more pressure financially and mentally. So they see no reason as to why teenage curfews should be set as laws. On the other hand, another group of citizens think that it is excellent that governments have been setting teenage curfews as laws and their main reason is because they believe that parents aren’t fulfilling their duties as a parent. Parents aren’t really taking care of the teens and mostly are unaware of stuff, so it’s the government 's job to take action and handle the situation.
