Reflection On Technology In The Classroom

Three of my colleagues and I watched this Intel Video together. It was a short video, but we learned a lot from it. After watching it twice, we had a great dialogue about it. Everyone believed that it is what an effective and a highly engaged classroom should be. Most of us felt that our students are somewhat technologically ready for classwork like this video; however, it is impossible for us to instruct, monitor, and engage due to the lack of proper equipment in our classrooms. Currently we are limited to only one Chromebook, one desktop, and one data projector per teacher and a Chromebook for every student. These are basic devices, and anything above and beyond them can only exist in our wishlist. We felt that we have made good use of whatever we have inside our classrooms. …show more content…

She said they are lacking of technological etiquette, and it is too much for them to handle. At the same time she admitted that technology is challenging to her, and she is still working to improve herself. She could not foresee herself teaching like the video any time soon. She made a claim that teachers and students cannot be expected to know about technology any more than what is made available to them in the classrooms. She also pointed out that the kids in the Intel Video can do more because they are older than the kids in her class. When I heard that, I was sure she is not the only one feeling that way.
