My Opinions of Lewis Model Lewis Model is a chart which plots countries in relation to 3 categories: Linear-actives, Multi-actives and Reactives. British linguist Richard Lewis is a world traveler who speaks ten languages. He was qualified to plot the world’s cultures on this chart. The classifications are reliable in general case. First cultural type is Linear-active. This variety of people are more calculated and have stronger sense of time. They are single-minded when handling things in particular. Lewis gave a definition of Linear-actives:“Those who plan, schedule, organize, pursue action chains, do one thing at a time. Germans and Swiss are in this group.”(Lubin 1) Linear-actives have many characteristics. When working, they often …show more content…
Culture is formed in the development of history, especially for distinctive local culture. But the culture cradles of a lot of countries are the same, so many countries have similar culture type. For this reason, Lewis made the chat to classify different national culture, and find out their different characteristics. For example, when China was strong in ancient times, Japan drew on the experiences of China, and shaped their own culture style. So Japanese cultures are similar to Chinese cultures, such as calligraphy, tea culture and so on. This is a important reason why Lewis considered Chinese and Japanese are in the same group. According to the evolution principles of cultures, we can predict people’s behavior.“By focusing on the cultural roots of national behavior, both in society and business, we can foresee and calculate with a surprising degree of accuracy how others will react to our plans for them, and we can make certain assumptions as to how they will approach us.”(Lubin …show more content…
Different customs helped bring into being the different regional cultures. It is the history cause the different customs. So the regional cultures were formed through a long time and history. The differences between regional cultures are usually in several categories: languages, dietary habits, marriage and funeral customs, religions and local-style dwelling houses. As we all know, different areas may have their own dialect. It is because of the geographical isolation. Some kinds of lands are not suitable for some crops, So different areas plant different crops and eat different food. As for the religions and the marriage and funeral customs, they depend on the local people’s traditional ideology. Even a small country, the geology and climate vary a good deal from region to region. So the buildings should be suitable for the environment. Different areas’ environments are not the same, so local-style dwelling houses
One's Cultural Identity Everyone's culture differs, it is one way that distinguishes one from others. It is acquired, everyone is raised from it, and it determines the way one view the world and others. Imagine being in place with others that have different perspective of culture. Culture is different for many different people. There are many cultures in the world and how everyone’s culture aspects are different depending on your upbringing and your family’s lifestyle is. But as time passed, many of the neighbors moved out; and new ones replaced them. At this point, I do not even know half. My house itself, is pretty standard in my opinion. In my neighborhood, all the houses match a color scheme, but they are not have the same house plan.
Cultural factors are sets of beliefs, values, and guidelines for individuals’ behaviors. These beliefs are often shared and discussed by a certain group of people. These groups of people may be influenced by culture, ethnicity, race, religion, economics, and an individual’s routines. In other words, it is safe to say that not all cultural groups will share the same views on specific beliefs, values, and/or guidelines. For instance, there are many cultural beliefs held in America, which may have affected Jeanette’s development into an independent and intelligent woman.
The question being asked is, what is hell like. Lewis describes it as a gray town, but there 's more too it. Hell is not the fiery pits that we all imagined it 's deeper than that. In hell you are basically nothing. You are a ghost, nothing is solid, you can imagine practically anything you want.

One example of how culture influences the perspectives of others is in the novel excerpt, “Two Kinds” by Amy Tan. When Jing Mei finds out about these classes, her perspective on
The world is diverse and filled with so many different types of cultures. Many are specific for a certain country or often seen worldwide. It also depends on their history. For example, Thailand is a unique country with a cultured filled history. They can be compared and contrasted with other cultures, for example, the U.S. culture.
To open-minded people, cultural differences define the identity of a country, which is unique to that one country. This world would be too boring without many countries with many
