For many years, America has been regarded as one of the world’s most perilous and ferocious countries in the world. The death rate caused by active gun shooters in the US is extraordinary: “since 1968, more Americans have died from gunfire than died in … all the wars of this country 's history”. Hence why public ownership of guns should be abolished in the USA. Can you imagine to what extent the death rate in America has increased by now?

Recently the amount of mass shooting that have happened in the United State within a short period of time have scared everyone. Many people are scared to go to the malls, movies, parks, and restaurants. “The FBI defines mass murder as murdering four or more persons during an event with no "cooling-off period" between the murders. A mass murder typically occurs in a single location where one or more people kill several others. Many acts of mass murder end with the perpetrator(s) dying by suicide or suicide by cop” (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2005).
“The U.S. ranks first in gun ownership per capita, with roughly 270 million firearms, or 89 firearms per 100 residents” (Palazzolo & Flynn). Even though most of the firearms that are bought are used for hunting animals, some are used for killing people. In 2015, “no more than eight days this year have passed without a mass shooting” (Speiser). This seems like a very bad statistic as that is many people's lives that are getting snuffed out. In this research paper, there will be a literature review about mass shootings, as well as a theory that fits mass shootings, and how this theory applies to mass shootings.
