Markides (2006) explains that disruptive business models are strategies implemented in a company which enables it to outshine the competitors in an individual market. The disruptive model focuses on distorting the existing market and making the customers prefer the new business as opposed to the others (Magretta, 2012). Disruptive business models may include offering higher discounts, after sales services and premium products. As a nation we have become tolerant of other cultures. We have come a long way from slavery and the internment of the Japanese-Americans in the mid 1900s. There are organizations that do not discriminate based on cultural aspects like the many of the YMCAs found across the country. For example, the Hickory Foundation YMCA is a multi-cultural hub that benefits from the cross-cultural interactions. I have practice in the YMCA pool six days of the week. Through this great amount of time spent at the site, I have noticed many occasions where people have held conversations and sympathized with one another despite their cultural backgrounds. On the swim team alone, there are people from at least five different countries, if not more. Each individual
