TECHNOLOGY HAS MADE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE
I disagree with motion: Technology has made the world a better place. Before stating my reasons, let me define or state rather the meaning of the word technology. Technology is coined from Tech meaning machine and logy meaning study, it is the use of scientific knowledge in practical ways mostly in the creation of machines. The advent of technology, as I see has done more harm than good indeed, it has not, in anyway made the world a better place to live in. Before the advent of technology, our forefathers (since they lived at that time) never experienced what we call road accident or plane crash and the others during the course of transportation. The issue of youths nowadays going online to dupe people is a very bad influence of technology. It is not a thing of surprise that these mobile phones are now major distractions to students as the need of belonging to a social media community now becomes their priority, not their books. It is not only students that are affected; same is the case of our present day youths. Moreover, it is quite obvious that gradually the standard of education is reducing, exam boards now realize that students do not read anymore and to avoid or prevent mass failure, they tend to make their exam questions easier. Why is this so all of a sudden? The answer simply is because students now get distracted a lot by television, mobile phones and the internet. These are few of the negative influences technology has brought upon us, thereby not making our world what it is supposed to be.
