TECHNOLOGY HAS MADE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE
I disagree with motion: Technology has made the world a better place. Before stating my reasons, let me define or state rather the meaning of the word technology. Technology is coined from Tech meaning machine and logy meaning study, it is the use of scientific knowledge in practical ways mostly in the creation of machines. The advent of technology, as I see has done more harm than good indeed, it has not, in anyway made the world a better place to live in. Before the advent of technology, our forefathers (since they lived at that time) never experienced what we call road accident or plane crash and the others during the course of transportation. These didn’t occur to them because their mode of transportation was either

The issue of youths nowadays going online to dupe people is a very bad influence of technology. It is not a thing of surprise that these mobile phones are now major distractions to students as the need of belonging to a social media community now becomes their priority, not their books. It is not only students that are affected; same is the case of our present day youths. Moreover, it is quite obvious that gradually the standard of education is reducing, exam boards now realize that students do not read anymore and to avoid or prevent mass failure, they tend to make their exam questions easier. Why is this so all of a sudden? The answer simply is because students now get distracted a lot by television, mobile phones and the internet. These are few of the negative influences technology has brought upon us, thereby not making our world what it is supposed to be.
The question of if technology has made the world a better place is not an open ended one and the answer to such question , if given a deep thought, is a capital
It seems like every day we hear something about 760mph trains or self-driving cars. Technology is changing the way we think all the time. We are more connected to each other than ever before. We can see and do things that other people before us would only dream about. The use of technologies can change the world.
The change of speed in today’s society has increased dramatically, we are expected to process information at a faster rate. There is no time to sit and read new information, we want to be flooded with new information fast. While the technology in the world has increased most schools are moving slower. Most schools do not have up to date technology for their students to succeed in the real world. We can say this is a good thing to have less technology in school, because we can go back to the old days and research of the books.
Safety wasn’t always the biggest concern. In fact, proper provisions for crashes and emergencies weren’t usually in
In his book Smarter Than You Think, Clive Thompson aims to persuade the readers into believing that technology has had a positive impact on our society and the World as a whole. He claims that technology has improved our retention rates, allows us to write and think with global audiences and even improves our senses. How does he persuade us to believe his claims? He gives us many examples of people and their inventions, and how these inventions have had positive impacts on our society. One example he gives us is Ory Okolloh, a woman who created a website that played an important role during the disputed presidential elections in Kenya in 2007.
Sue Honoré, an independent learning consultant who has studied people who were born from 1982 to 2002 has that “while young people are "undoubtedly capable of long periods of concentration", those who spend a lot of time alone using technology tend to have less in the way of communication skills, self-awareness and emotional intelligence”. It has been proven that around 31 nations that students who used computers everyday in class had lower test scores in reading and math than students who don’t use them as much (Study: Students Who Use in School Doesn’t Help Test Scores). Though technology is amazing and has given so many people different opportunities they would’ve never had before it is resulting in a few bad habits for students. Casey Schools systems around the United States have begun to rely on technology to teach their students instead of teachers to teach them. According Michael Godsey, a veteran high-school English educator, even said and agreed with many people today that we are at the point in time where since we have the internet at our fingertips, there is really no need for teachers
In today’s modern society technology plays a huge role in everyday life. Technology has a big position in education. Today students use laptops for school on an everyday basis to take notes, work on assignments, and research. Many people agree that, when it comes to education, technology can either be very harmful or very helpful. Timothy D. Snyder, a history professor at the University of Yale has written five award-winning books.
Students can use technology for research, play educational games, learn from different areas around the world, etc. Yes, little usage of technology does benefit a child’s success. Nevertheless, most students spends too much time on their devices and is most likely going to get addicted to it. Technology is fun, but it leads to procrastination and eventually failing in class. Even though technology very useful to use, relying on it would not be a good idea.
I think that technology and the internet can and have brought people together. The reason that I say that is because if you are homeschooled, than you can stay connected with your old friends. But if you get cut off from the internet and stuff, and you cannot get to talk to anyone at all, than you will be lonely and not have anyone to talk to. Also, it can bring people together by showing eachother what they look like if they have not been able to see each other for a long time.
Technology creates new ways to help the students learn. Technology will never get worse in the future infact it will get
Many critics may argue and say that technology in education is dangerous. It can waste a students’ time by getting him or her sidetracked by distractions they find online. However when students avoid technology in education, they have to spend long hours, days, maybe even weeks searching for certain information in various different books. Students that really want to learn will force discipline upon themselves. Even if students didn’t use technology, anything could easily distract them when studying.
Social media is becoming an ubiquitous in today’s society and today’s youth are spending a great deal of time using some sites to access in a public life. Social media 1 Negative effects of social media on education A lot of students are using some sites that can distract them from their doings especially on their studies. Yes, social media gives everything what a person will need. Social media is a great way to have a person communicating with another person but we also do know that it could give us a big impact that could be problem to our studies. Nowadays, a lot of students are multi-tasking especially whenever they are doing some things that are related to their studies.
Last but not least, technology is also helpful because it benefits educated people. This is a true fact because students can use online resources as a learning aid, and teachers can use different software and presentations to teach. For example, “technology is helping teachers to expand beyond linear, text-based learning and to engage students who learn best in other ways” (). Another example of technology helping educated people is, “its role in schools has evolved from a contained “computer class” into a versatile learning tool that could
We depend too much on technology. There is no doubt about it. Many places of work are at a loss if their internet connection stops working. Many businesses and institutions are left high and dry if the internet or computer crashes. Every bit of information regarding business is entered into the computer.
