Despite the lack of my musical know-how, with the quote and the tune it doesn 't take a genius to figure out that we are talking about Game of Thrones. A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin is a series of fantasy novels, published from 1996 onwards that has sold over 60 million copies worldwide. The novel has also been the base for the 2011 HBO show titled Game of Thrones which has received over 5 million views worldwide. With an astounding rating by most critiquing websites and the sixth season right on top of our heads, what has inspired the Game of Thrones?

Now, it is no secret to many of us Thrones, that a lot of George R. R. Martins work is inspired by British History. For instance, the infamous Red Wedding was inspired by its Scottish counterpart; The Black Dinner And Glencoe Massacre. However, how many of us throners and A Song of Ice and Fire enthusiasts are aware that the series is inspired by the events of the Wars of the Roses.
