We all go through certain challenges in our lives which help us growing as a person. Those challenges help us in learning that how we can change ourselves for betterment of our personalities and to adjust in certain environments. Coming to America is one of the major social and academic challenges for an international student but there are some sub-challenges associated with it and if a student deals with those challenges efficiently, he can deal with any problems in his life. It is important that we learn the skill of dealing with challenges because life is a journey which brings a lot for us and we have no idea what is it bringing next for us (Polanco, 2010). Studying in abroad is a major challenge because a person has to live his life without
Family has always been important to me. Friends are the family I chose. Education is the foundation to living a successful life. There are many social aspects to life and three of the most important to me are family, friends, and education. Family is something that everyone needs but does not have.
Receiving an education holds tremendous power as it prepares individuals to become productive, informed, and contributing members of society. Denying immigrants the opportunity to receive an education only hurts our country as a whole, as it deeply affects our economic productivity and more importantly, our country’s morality and sense of social tolerance towards all people. Jack Nelson, a Professor at Rutgers University Graduate School of Education makes the important point, “Immigrants have always needed the schools, and the nation has always needed the
I plan to teach my future children what it really means to be from a hispanic culture and how they should go out and proudly tell the world who they really are. To me, being hispanic and born and raised makes me want to break all negative stereotypes of how must are not educated and do not have any way of succeeding. I want to make my family proud. I have had many experiences were being hispanic has made me work harder than I would have. The main place were I had to exceed was in school.
One of the social issues that sparked my interest in social work is the language barriers undocumented immigrants face on a daily basis. Immigration is an important aspect in social work because there is an immense amount of undocumented immigrants in need of assistance. The NASW code of ethics states, “Social workers are sensitive to cultural and ethnic diversity and strive to end discrimination, oppression, poverty, and other forms of social injustice.” (“National Association of Social Workers,” 2017). This demonstrates how ending discrimination is important in the code of ethics, in this instance it would be towards undocumented immigrants. Additionally, that is why helping undocumented immigrants is significant because they are generally afraid to voice their opinions because of the language barriers.
DDS Scholarship Essay “You must aspire to be someone in life. You must take the opportunities put in your path and make the most of your accomplishments.” My father has always told me this throughout my life and has taught me to never let a chance slip away from my grip. Once the opportunity of receiving this scholarship crossed my path, I had to take it. Several events in my life have shaped me to become the student and person I am today. Education is a valuable treasure, and with it you can do anything.
I decided to come to college not only for me but for my family. My family is my greatest motivation. My determination and curiosity is going to help me immensely in achieving my goals. I will overcome any obstacle put in my way because I will not give up when things get complicated. I believe others will want a meaningful relationship with me in the future now that I am becoming a better me, I hope to positively influence my little brother and cousins so they do not go down the same path that I did.
Raising a child is one of the hardest challenges to be done – to educate a child in a way that it has adequate morals standards and will live a successful life. One of the most recent concerns is the topic of racism, sexism and in general prejudice and stereotypes; especially today, people try more and more to treat everybody equal, which is an honourable development. In the course of this, most parents want to prevent their child from developing biases and prejudices – but in how far are they conveying them unconsciously? Even though not everything parents tell their children has an impact on them, the gender roles they present do strongly. Already at a quite young age, children tend to assume certain characteristics of males and females on
But then again my parents have been a major force, they planned it for me and I wanted it too.” Personally I joined education basically because my parents wanted me to and I was more motivated by the benefits that will come along as my parents told me. I had dreams and I was told only through going to school I can achieve them .With this in mind I have been able to climb the ladder of education and now am self-motivated to pursue it to the extreme level for I have seen the benefits are many .like my respond who said, “……..…We cannot compare, they are the ones robbing with violence because they are too lazy to get legitimate money, and their dressing culture doesn’t fit any occasion like they can differentiate dress code for worship places and social events. They can barely show gratitude to those who show kindness to them .I know and do the exact opposite.”I can say the same as well; I am different from ordinary youths who for one reason or the other left education after high school level. My parents are looking up to me to mentor my young brother in the best knowledge that have acquired through schooling. Theybelieve I have learned new and better cultures like how to talk to
Education is one of the most vital elements for every society and its people. For someone to improve themselves and become the person they want to be, a proper education is an important step. Everyone needs to have education and this education should be taken by the interest and tendency but the student 's environment or the education system in his/her country may not be sufficient enough. In these cases, the students would most probably like to have different opportunities and a better system for themselves in other countries. And since this is a tough call, students should be encouraged to study abroad so that they can learn different languages, gain a better knowledge about new cultures and get new job opportunities.
I don 't want to take what is just given to me I want to work hard and get what I deserve. Seeking my degree also shows that I value myself enough to invest in myself and improve my knowledge by taking the opportunity to continue to learn. Last but not least I value my son by showing him the importance of getting his college degree. My discipline I 'm very willing to schedule my life to include time to study and prepare for class. I 'm currently working full time however I have a set schedule of hours.
I do understand that it 's difficult to find the dedication to push through college and create a safety net for yourself but I also love the career that I have chosen. Every single one of my qualities have pointed me towards this path. My good memory, my belief in social justice. my love for politics, and even my disappointment with the US Immigration system has led me to the decision that the only way I can fight what I don 't agree with is to educate and better myself. I want to be the reason that my mom believes fully in the American dream again.
